Siri Won't Launch Apps

I upgraded my new iPad (iPad 3) to IOS 6 and everything went well except Siri won’t launch apps. When asked say “launch Facebook” Siri responds with “it doesn’t look like you have an app named Facebook” and I get the same results when trying to launch any app. Siri works for everything else it just won’t launch apps. Any ideas? Thanks.

I recently updated both my 4S and iPad 3 to 6.1 and restored from backup and I'm having the same issue. apps are not being recognized. my 4S doesn't see *any* apps including the default built in apps like calendar or clock, and the iPad 3 recognizes only the built in apps but can't find any of my third party apps...

Is there any update to this issue?

Thanks,

I'm having similar issue on my 4S, Siri seems to open only the Apple apps, other than the apple apps I get the message "You don't seem to have an app name 'the name of the none apple app'."

I try to open facebook, and you see the question recognized by siri and spelled correctly but when it opens the app it opens Passbook instead of facebook! it's frustrating! iphone 4s, ios 6.1.1 clean restore ...what's going on!

Apple don't seem to get their act togther anymore!😟

This happened to me today- siri was working normal at work- got in my car and Siri wouldn't lunch any apps, turned Bluetooth off and still didn't work- got home and back on wifi and Siri worked again. If I kill wifi at home Siri stops opening apps, turn wifi back on and it's fixed. Looks like a network issue. I'm on AT&T on 4s. Siri works normal on my iPad on Verizon LTE. Odd

Hey Guys,

I fixed the problem on my iPhone 4S. I had upgraded to 6.1.1 from 6.1 (but I don't think it's really related to 6.1.1) the main difference was that when i unlocked and setup my device for the first time right after the restore to 6.1.1 (prior to restoring from an itunes backup), I setup icloud instead of selecting "skip this step".

I had to go through the setup wizard because I "escaped from certain shackles". Not sure how many of you here do the same.

In anycase, Try going through the setup wizard on the device prior to restoring from a backup (either itunes or icloud), and make sure to go through the icloud setup (don't skip it!).

FYI, I also tried resetting network settings and that didn't help. I was also getting battery issues which prompted me to upgrade to 6.1.1. No battery issues anymore (even though I restored from a backup)

Have you jailbreaked your device before?and you ask siri to launch cydia app and suddenly all your apps cannot be launched through siri?i have this same kind of problem but now it is solved.First you need to go into iFileand find these 2 files/var/mobile/Library/Caches/com.apple.LaunchServices-045.csstore /var/mobile/Library/Caches/com.apple.mobile.installation.plist

Once you find them don't delete them just in case change them to /var/mobile/Library/Caches/com.apple.LaunchServices-045.csstore.bak /var/mobile/Library/Caches/com.apple.mobile.installation.plist.bak

This basically renders them invisible, you can go and delete them later, always good to keep a backup

Once you have changed the name back out to Springboard and do a full reboot. Upon reboot you will notice all your stock apps are there and your installed cydia apps but NO appstore apps. DONT PANIC

Just sit back and chill as iOS will slowly rebuild your apps on the springboard. I have over 300 apps on mine so it took a couple of minutes. Once all your apps are showing give Siri a test.. Should work perfect.

Then go back into iFileand removed the filesyou changed to .bak

Done.. lemmie know how you go
