iPhone 5 wifi issues

My iPhone 5 connects to wifi networks and remembers them, but receives absolutely zero data through the network. LTE and 3G no problem... Off to the repair shop (after 3 hours of ownership...) or any ideas??

I have an Iphone 5 it used to work fine, but then out of nowhere I started having troubles with my wifi conection, and now I cant connect to any wifi, or it just connects when it's really close to it.

I bought my iphone in United States but I live in Ecuador and I take it to apple in my country and they told me that they don't manage guaranty of iphones in my country yet, so that I had to take my cellphone to the States, the problem is that I have guaranty only untill june 7th, so I did send my phone with some uncle, he toke my iphone to apple in New York and It seemed to work just fine the Iphone magicaly coneccted to their wifi signal, so they just made a hard reset of the phone and send it back to me, I wait about 4 weeks without my cellphone but today I finally got it back, and guess what .... my iphone still doesn't connect to any wifi signal... I used to be an apple fan, but today I'm so mad because of this, that if you have a chance to buy another phone somewhere else in other brand , you better do it, because apple is not what it used to be anymore...

Estimado gatodres1010,

Permiteme adjuntarlo aquin abajo. Te deseo mucha suerte y espero que alguna solucion funcione.

Dear mvish86,

If your iphone 5 is not getting decent wi-fi at home I would advise you to first perform a "hard reset", i.e. hold down the on/off button (upper right hand corner) AND the Home Button (fingerprint scanner) at the same time until the phone restarts. Let it restart completely, and check for wi-fi connectivity. Second, make sure your router is isolated (about three to five feet AWAY from anything electrical (we are testing, if it works you can then place it a little closer to other devices.) If need be you can try performing another hard reset, remember your iphone 5 works somewhere else, hence it has got to be your location at home.

You can even try to isolate the devices to a room where there are NO electrical equipment and then test your iphone. Let's remember wi-fi is completely dependant on distance, wall materials, in other words if you live in a house that has any masonry exterior, or sheet metal on inside the roof, or anything of that sort, that is what would be killing the signal coming from outside the house to your router and then weakly broadcasting to your phone.

I do hope these tips will give you a somewhat workable technique to allow you to enjoy your iphone 5 the way you expect it to. In my case the same afternoon that I received my iphone 5, I activated it and started noticing very poor wi-fi connectivity (I have got a killer Motorola Surfboard AC modem/router, an Intellinet N access point they do sit close by though), and poor wi-fi nonetheless. I got online, went to apple's website, read some forums, and found that this poor wi-fi connectivity on iphone 5's is common to many users. People were doing all kind of things with ip addresses, changing routers, etc, etc. Until I found a comment explaining what worked for him. Guess what? Perform a "hard reset" and viola! It worked for me as soon as I did the "hard reset" the very first time. I do hope it works for you too.

Don't worry. All you need to do is this

Go to settings

Click on wifi

Click on your internet connection that you are connected to but is not working (eg internet657)

More options will come up so all u do is that you scroll down until you see DSN

Change DSN to 8.8.4.4

If this doesn't work then change it to 8.8.8.8.

hope it helps

I've had this issue on my iPhone 5 since I got my Bluetooth working that wouldn't connect in the past. Now about my Bluetooth works, my Wi-Fi still gives incorrect password no matter what I do. Changing the router names, settings, passwords, I've tried everything, and it says incorrect password instantly. What else can I try?. I can't be the only one with this issue

I Have the same exact issue with my iPhone 5 iOS 6.1.4 just like you. It started when I disabled 2 Step Verification for my one and only apple ID I've always had. This forced me to update to a more complex password (I had my old password for a long time).

EVer since then, I cannot get iCloud to stop prompting me repeatedly for my password over and over. I know its the right password because Find My iPhone works and the Settings app for iTunes App Store works with this password. But in the iCloud Settings, even after successfully verifying my password with 3 checkmarks, it will immediately prompt me with the Apple ID password popup again! And I can never get into Change Storage Plan.

My System Log says this intriguing info when this all occurs;

"Preferences [117] (Warning): -[WiFiManager joinNetwork:isHidden:]: Unable to set password in the keychain"

My Photo Stream hasn't worked since this happened around April 1 2016. But my 2nd iPhone 5 running iOS 8 (now iOS 9) has always been able to connect to iCloud no problem. So I think Apple broke something that leaves iOS 6 users unable to access iCloud, but I don't know how I could prove this.

I Did have icloud Keychain enabled on my iOS 9 iPhone 5, so I just tried disabling that, and no change for my iOS 6 phone.

THe other thing I tried is to REenable 2 step Verification since it was the disabling of it that broke my ability to access iCloud. That functioned as far as triggering the 2nd step verification on my iPhone 5 iOS 6, which succeeded, but all the problems still remain.

THe last thing I tried was Reset Network Settings, which only made things worse. Now, ever since then, I cannot connect to wifi networks because te password won't save. that's when I get the error in system log about unable to sst password in the keychain. Now I cannot connect to wifi anymore (I haven't been able to try an unprotected wifi network to see of those work but that's neither here nor there.)

IM desperate for help!
