Q: iPhone 5 wifi issues

Try the Bluetooth ON/OFF fix guys.. many users managed to fix that issue including myself..

I did try bluetooth on/off but it didn't work for me.  I tried a Belkin n600db router and an apple airport express but no luck with either.  LTE off no difference, WPA/TKIP same, WEP same, no security -- same slow result.  Wireless A only, wireless G only, wireless N only all the same.  3 restores as a new phone (not restore from backup) no go.  Reset network settings same result.  iPhone sitting right on top of router no difference.  Two calls to apple tech support but they had no other suggestions.  Set proxy to auto didn't help, 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4 DNS didn't work.  Willing to try anything at this point.

I tried the Bluetooth switch on mine and it made no difference... I get 3-6 Mbps for a few minutes then back down to 300k. It then stays at this speed continuously. 64gb Verizon running on latest gen AirPort Extreme.

After several tries and a restart, the BT on/off doesn't work for me.

1st gen. Time Capsule bridged to AT&T 2Wire.  Wish I know why my iMac will pull 11 Mbps down all day and my iP5 will avg. 4, sometimes much less, and on rare occassion 11 Mbps.

That thread has a couple users that got better wifi speeds by deleting facebook integration. Im not endorsing it, just passing it along. Ive heard of weirder things

Hi, Derek from Sydney, oz here - iphone5 user, 64GB model, I can confirm that I have experienced this issue.

I noticed my wifi was connected, but the reception was only showing one bar (and I was only 1 metre away from the router - Billion7800N).  Only after seeing this thread, I checked my cellular data and sure enough, it'd had been connecting through 3G, probably the whole time since it was up to 350MB!)

I performed a hard reset (hold power and home for 5 secs or so) and when it rebooted the wifi was showing full signal again.  I tested by turning off cellular data and running speed test - the connection was fine and reaching my max speeds for my home internet.  I then turned on cellular and ran speed test once more and it reported the same speeds, (so it's still connecting to wifi). 

So the hard reset fixed the problem for me, but this definitely seems to be a bug unique to iphone5 (I have ipad3 on ios6 and no such errors on that device (it has cellular data also).)

Having issues connecting iPhone 5 to the main access point in my house, a Dlink switchable band DAP-2553 that is hardwired to a Dlink DIR-655.  My iPhone 5 and my wife's iPhone 5 are flakey about connecting and staying connected to the access point.  Sometimes they refuse to connect completely.  The access point is configured as WPA2, AES, auto channel, 20/40 MHz, 2.4 GHz.  Latest firmware for everything.  Other wireless clients connect to the access point without difficulty.  I exchanged one of the iPhones for a new one, but this had no effect.  I've reset the network setting on the iPhone, swithed the Bluetooth on and off, power cycled the network, power cycled the iPhone, and more.

It seems Apple has issues with iPhone 5 and wifi.   Still, I am going to try a different access point before throwing in the towel and waiting for a fix from Apple.

Well, after suffering through 4 days without wifi on my brand spanking new 5, I took it to the genius bar and they ran a 30 second software diagnostic and proceeded to configure a new iPhone for me. I couldn't believe that they wouldn't back up my data and forced me to do a pared down backup to iCloud. All those Macs sitting on all those tables and they couldn't spare a single one for me to fully back up my iPhone to iTunes. So after almost an hour my new phone restored from iCloud (without camera roll or apps) and the wifi seems to be working ok.  I just can't believe that after 4 generations of hardware and 6 versions on iOS, Apples QA team could let such a major problem with such a basic and necessary function slip through their testing. This, on top of the wifi/cellular data problems that so many Verizon users have suffered, on top of the maps debacle...hard to believe this is Apple doing this. For sure this would never have happened if Steve Jobs were still around. For Steve, user experience was paramount, and it came before all other priorities, especially something as stupid as a "stick it to Google" agenda. This is the worst damage to user experience I've seen at Apple since the Lisa. Steve must be rolling over in his grave.

New white iPhone 32g. Three main Issues

1) wifi doesn't work, slower than 56k  modem line.

2) YELLOW display.

3) Siri doest answer to me. ( think related to 1)

I'm returning my phone and not planning to buy new one any time soon.

Oh come on, things weren't perfect under Steve Jobs. I have four works for you. You're holding it wrong. It was Jobs who decided to wage thermonuclear warfare on Google and android, and it seems like Google left Apple with no choice regarding the maps situation.

Yep, tried all the fixes on here, none worked so far except changing routers.

I agree. This is probably the largest product launch in history. Amazing that most of the darn phones DO work. It still would've happened. The difference is SJ would've beaten up Tim Cook for the issues. Now that he's gone it's up to us.

I have a home gateway with wifi provided by my wireless provider (Vivid), which was always slow.

I have now plugged it into my old router, a Netcomm N3G002W.

That seems to provide the speeds I am getting on the other devices (ipads/iphone 4).

So clearly some routers/router settings are the cause. Well not the cause as the iphone 5 should be able to manage it.  But anyway I think that the wifi works ok on some routers and not others...
