Q: iPhone 5 wifi issues

My iPhone 5 connects to wifi networks and remembers them, but receives absolutely zero data through the network. LTE and 3G no problem... Off to the repair shop (after 3 hours of ownership...) or any ideas??

iPhone 5, iOS 6

Yes I know, but it is not there.  That is why I wouldn't know it is out. Mine says software is up to date iOS 6.0.2

I see 6.1. and downloading it now. Download is very slow, due to big number of people downloading it now.

Ofcourse there is no mention about wifi.

Because of all that, i think my brand new iphone5 has hardware problems. Heading to apple store these days. Very, very disapointed

I just updated to 6.1.  Happened to be at home working.  My iPhone5 finally will pull data off the wi-fi.  I've turned celluar data off, which has crippled my ability to surf, download, or otherwise connect to anything up to this point.  Low and behold I can watch a youtube video without lag, download my email, and use my wi-fi.

    Now the not perfect...

    1. It connects 1.5Mbps slower than my iMac on the same wireless network.  The same is true vs my old 3G iPhone.

    2.  It still cannot see all the networks in my house, as a second Cisco router is on bridge and is visable/usable by all other wireless devices in my posession... Except my iPhone 5.

I'm currently updating a iPhone 4.  We'll see if that fixes that one.  But at least I'm back up and running!

Yeah, you'll need to wait until you can use a computer with iTunes to download and install it to your phone.

Actually there is.  If you look at the security release notes you see that there was a bug in the Broadcom WiFi drivers that was exploitable.  Whether that bug is behind any of the issues in this thread, I don't know.  But it's something.

In response to Tesmond, you describe the exact same issues that I have experienced with my 1st and 2nd (replacement) iPhone 5.

FYI, iOS 6.1 does not fix the problem whatsoever. I have downloaded and installed the new iOS to no avail.

There is something inherently wrong with a good number iPhones.

Fans of Apple products have always said that Apple were better than PC's because "They just work."

Well that argument is dead in the water with the iPhone.

The rot has set in at Apple. Their products are no longer better than the nearest rivals, in fact they're inferior and they do not appear to have the ability the solve the problems.  The only answer an Apple 'Genius' has is to replace an already faulty iPhone with yet another faulty iPhone.

Everytime I see one of those pretentious Apple adverts raving about the virtues of owning an iPhone it makes my blood boil.

Yup I was just going to point to that.

    WiFi

Available for: iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod touch (4th generation), iPad 2

Impact: A remote attacker on the same WiFi network may be able to temporarily disable WiFi

Description: An out of bounds read issue exists in Broadcom's BCM4325 and BCM4329 firmware's handling of 802.11i information elements. This issue was addressed through additional validation of 802.11i information elements.

However it does not apply to us as we have the BCM4334 chipset. And it says its for ther 3GS and iphone 4. However, iphone4s users are starting to report thier wifi and BT problems are gone with this update so hopefully there are truly other fixes in the mix as well.

So far so good on mine, however my problems aren't always reproducable on the first day. I know for sure by day 2 or 3 of coming back home from the office.
