OH MY GOD! I had this happen to me, pretty embarrassing but I dropped my iPhone in the toilet :/ I found a step here that helped greatlyhttp://iphonenosound.com/iphone-has-no-sound-after-dropping-in-water-toilet-wet/ I didn't have any rice on stand by so used some paper towels and put it in the cupboard for 10 hours. There was also some moisture droplets in the lens of the iPhone what thankfully were soaked up. Hope this helps!

I was having same problem with iphone 5c 32 GB. No sounds, all of the sudden. No music, clicks, locks, alarms, texts, nothing. What i did that worked was put the headphone jack, halfway in and then tilted it slightly to drag the end against in the inside of the female port. i did this twice and it must have disconnected a contact or something because it instantly started working.

also important to not that my phone WAS recognizing when the headphones were AND were not plugged in. while plugged in and changing the volume it would say "headphones" while unplugged and changing the volume it would say "ringer." so i thought it was not a headphone issue, i was wrong. Hope this helps.

I had the same problem. Caused me headache as I can hear the sound of notifications for calls & messages.

As suggested by many, I used a Q-tip. However, the tip need to be squeezed to make it a bit smaller to fit into the headphone jack. It can be a little tight to push it in. Push it in deep & give it a little bit of twist & pull it back out & try pressing the volume button & if thing goes well, it will show 'volume' instead of 'headphone' when adjusting the volume.

Thank you Q-tip. You did saved me some money from going to the store and have it fix!
