Hi,
My iPhone 5 will not charge has anyone else got this problem?
When I plug the lightning cable in its as if the phone registers this but it will not charge.
I am also unable to transfer any data across to the phone.
The phone has been rebooted several times but still no luck,

I have the same problem in my iPhone 5 with iOS 7.0.2
It does not charge right from the wall socket using the original lightning cable and original wall charger. I have 2 original wall chargers and neither both charge my phone. I used another non genuine lightning cable and the iPhone recognized that it was not an original cable but did not charge. I have an iPad mini with iOS 7 and it charges very well with any combination of chargers and cables.
The phone charge very well from my Macbook Pro late 2012 usb with both cables with no problem. The iPhone 5 just won't charge from the power socket, I don't understand what's happening!! 😟
My iPhone 5c charges off and on the charger I don't know if it is that I have a shattered screen but the charging problem started just a little bit ago and my phone has been shattered for about a year now so I don't know why this is happening if someone could tell me that would be great and one more thing it's not my charger that's the problem because I have tried new chargers to and it still goes off and on.
My husband had the same problem. I read your post and he tried it tonight! He used a toothpick. He couldn't believe the amount of lint that came out of that little port! I think it's from putting his phone in his pocket. Thanks for the suggestion!
I just discovered that I am having the same problem when charging the phone from the USB port charger on a computer. I just plugged it into a wall outlet and it is now charging fine. I am wondering if it's a hardware/software problem of the computer being used to charge the phone. Maybe it's not recognizing the new lightning cable? Try using an AC outlet to charge.
Thanks for the reply, the AC outlet has already been tried but it won't charge at all.
I've also reset the device to factory settings but same issue.
My phone has now run out of battery and I'm going to have to wait for a new cable to come in the post.

Exactly the same problem here. Tried USB on computer and wall using the plug provided. It detects the cable, but zero charge! Bad times for a new product!
I'm having the same issue, I need to transfer my data across and it's not recognising it at all.

It is really frustrating considering we've spent a lot of money on the device and it won't even charge!
Hopefully a new cable will resolve the problem, should have it for Tuesday...
Surely you can just go to an Apple store and exchange the faulty cable for a new one under the warranty?
Well, much to my embarrassment, I discovered that with my new iPhone 5 that it is possible -- even easy -- to connect the USB port to the charger facing the wrong way. The USB symbol should point toward the center of the charger.
When when I fixed that, then it started charging just fine.
Nearest Apple shop is 40 miles away, and I dont want to travel that far just for a cable. I bought the phone through 'phones4u' and they are sending a new cable out in the post.
It's all weird. Everything is in right. I turn off my phone and then plug it through the mains, it recgonises it turns on but doesn't charge.
so annoying when I need to charge my phone for tomorrow!
Yeah that's the exact same thing as mine, really odd.
I got it from 3, there not even sending out a new USB!
I had to restart syncing 5 times into itunes because just putting the phone down on my lap disconnected me from itunes. if I just tap the part of the lightning cable thats plugged into the phone it disconnects 😟 I have had enough with this **** thing already. I was so excited and Ive had literally 5 hours of misery. I don't want to stand in line at apple for hours to get a new cable/phone, who knows. Its plugged into the wall right now and chargingbut if I wiggle the cord it disconnects. I hope its not a design flaw.
