iPhone 5 not charging

Hi,

My iPhone 5 will not charge has anyone else got this problem?

When I plug the lightning cable in its as if the phone registers this but it will not charge.

I am also unable to transfer any data across to the phone.

The phone has been rebooted several times but still no luck,

Thanks

Jack

Having the same problem. Posted this in another therad on the issue:

After moving the plug around, I can get it to charge/connect to my computer if I push it towards the phone and pull up, but only with one side of the connector. The other side never connects, no matter what angle of force is applied.

Physically, it must be an issue with the pins in the iPhone connecting fully with the pins on the Lightning connector. Because all Lightning connectors must be near-identical, I unfortunately think that it's a problem with the phone itself.

I'm bummed. I may fool around with it a bit more to see if I can gather more data, but it looks like I'll be scheduling for a replacement when Apple Stores near me get another shipment. Until then I'll have to fashion a rubberband apparatus for it to charge.

Please, if anyone reading this is also having this problem, post as much detail as you can about the problem. I would love this to just be an issue with the Lightning cable, but, we'll see.

Sounds like "Lightning Gate"... I have the same issue. The phone won't charge via the wall plug or connect to the computer. When I do connect it to the USB port of my computer the USB mouse shuts off! tried everything moving cable around reboots of everything. Sounds like bad cable or connection.

My iPhone 5 is not carging as well. When I plug the Lightning cable to the new adapter it also make a weird buzzing sound. I tried the adapter with my old 30 pin connnecter and it charged my iPhone 4 without a problem but iPhone 5 wont charge even with old adapter+lightning cable setup. I guess few of us recieved defected lightning cables which we have to deal with. In my case I have to drive 80 miles to the nearest apple store!!

I believe it is IOS 6 problem. Not charging or problems related to it is occurring in ipads, iphone 4 and iphone 5. Since Apple decided for a different power system in iPhone 5 and for a new product, a connector for iphone 5 to be used with older cables, IOS 6 should works or able to work with different amps.

I am not a tech guy but it is very frustrating see my iphone 4s about two months old refusing to charge/reboot/reset. It is refuses to charge and I have tried different connectors, new and old ones and different mac computers.

I hope this issue will be solved or explained soon.

Good luck

Nope my iPhone 5 isn't charging either.

Had it plugged in all night (am in Australia), and it ran out of charge by lunch time. Plugged into computer - refuses to charge. Plugged into wall charger, refuses to charge (and yes I have the USB plug around the right way). It will work while plugged into the wall charger but it won't charge. The plugged-in charger is quite hot, which is a worry too.

I can't revert to my old 4S because the sim card is different. What now? I need the phone! It's the only way people contact me! No car chargers around yet. With so many reporting the same problem, one wonders how much quality control there is with what is essentially an $800-$1000 product in Australia.

My local Apple Store, which is not where I bought it, is in the middle of an enormous shopping centre that is incredibly difficult to get to - for me, almost impossible. The store I did buy it from is now all out of iPhone 5s, so it cant even be swapped. Some fine mess!
