iPhone 5 not charging

Hi,

My iPhone 5 will not charge has anyone else got this problem?

When I plug the lightning cable in its as if the phone registers this but it will not charge.

I am also unable to transfer any data across to the phone.

The phone has been rebooted several times but still no luck,

Thanks

Jack

I am also experiencing this issue. My iPhone came with a 97% charge, it was completely dead within 12 hours with only 2 hours of use. Plugged it in to charge and got the initial screen where the battery level is too low for the phone to turn on yet so it charges for a while. And then nothing. It's been plugged in for over an hour now, nothing comes up on the screen no matter what. Unplug it, plug it back in, same exact result.

My phone is now completely dead and had horrible battery life to begin with. I'm expecting Apple to replace it. Nothing short of that will work for me.

Genius appointment set for later today as I can't call Apple since my only phone is basically dead on arrival.

I, too, am having the same problem charging iPhone 5. For those of you that live far away from an Apple Store, I seem to have found a temporary solution. All you need is the charger and a small enough elastic band of any kind (rubber band, hair scrunch thingy, etc.) In my case, pulling the cable to the left side of the phone drew a full charge. The band keeps the cable in place wherever your cable 'connects.'

It works for now.

Called Apple....went through all of their troubleshooting. Nothing worked

All I wanted was a replacement, 12 hr battery life and not charging in less than 24 hours of ownership, I think a replacement is understandable. They didn't want to do one.

Took forever to get them to agree to do one, then when they did agree it was either going to take 2 weeks for me to get or they were going to charge me 29 dollars to ship it faster. Needless to say that was the tipping point for me.

Manager gets on the line and instantly agrees to waive the 29 dollars, yet she will only ship it as fast as 3 business days. Ok I guess I can take that...

But really, you would think that for a device with these issues that I've had for less than 24 hours they would have acted quicker to replace it and not try to charge me to do so.

Lost a little respect for Apple on that call.

I too have had this problem. Computer wont charge it, wall charger wont charge it. Turn the phone off and plug it in, it recognizes it, turns on and continues to not charge. Also had to change my apple ID password for "security reasons." which was really odd to me. Apple is really flowing their rep with all these udderly common problems with apps, iOS6, charging, etc. Mr. Jobs would never of let this happen. I got my phone at Best Buy and will be trying to get the fix tomorrow, if my phone lasts that long, have less than 20% right now.
