Yellow tint on iPhone 5

Anyone else have an awful yellow tint on their iPhone 5 screen? My whites look cream and the eBay app in particular (being yellow) looks awful.

I've upgraded from the iPhone 4 and I would for sure prefer that screen over this. Crisp whites I'm surely missing.

Black 16gb iPhone 5 here btw

Bruinback - Where did you get this "Of note: the 4s has a brighter screen than 5 when it comes to specs so it will never be a white as the 4s." I went to the Genius bar to compare my iPhone 4S and iPhone 5, where the 4S was clearly brighter. The Genius said I can't compare two different products and asked me to find a iPhone 5 in store which is brighter than my iPhone 5 and I couldn't. Every one them was duller than my 4S. Your evidence would let me sleep.

Do you need the box and all original accessories to swap the phones in apple store guys? I'm fed up with these purple blues and yellow whites now, an to top it off I'm getting squiggly fuzzy lines when dictating and downloading apps. I'm not waiting to Friday to get this fixed as its ******* me off now.

Will pop into store today whilst I'm out if I don't need the box etc.

Hey guys,

Ive noticed too the yellow tint, esp noticeable in the settings menus, esp if compared next to a iphone4 (like i have). It kind of bothered me, because im not used to it, see pic below of the visible difference :

Then, listening to all the chatter about the iphone 5 having a "warmer" color configuration, i compared how my pictures where looking on screen, having the i4 and the i5 next to each other, and i must say like my new phone better, warmer colors make pics look indeed more natural (or at least lively). But ill let you make your mind :

What do you guys think ? is my creamy whites from the menus worth having it exhanged ? Will my pictures look as lively if i do get a cooler screen colored i5 ?

@agprint - I used an EyeOne lightmeter and free ColorHCFR software which I use for calibrating TV's - the Grayxcale was just a Google image search as I don't have my usual testing software in an iPhone format! 🙂

Interestingly the screen color balance was exactly the same at my usual Auto-brightness 25% or so and at full brightness unlike with many TV's - great for consistency if they were to actually get the color right in the first place!

@eastcoastdre - Yeah, agreed on the points you made, especially easy to notice the purple blues on a Google search (the usually blue text links). So are all iPhone 5's like this or just some? Want to know if I should push for replacement... :\

I'm still gonna go my genius appointment on Fri just to see what they say. Might get a refund as i'm seriously not liking the screen colours, especially purple links in google.

Hey guys

Sorry for the yellow tint problems on IP5. I got this problem too.

I understand that some people might not even notice this problem, but for those who does, it is pretty bad!

Today, i autually went to the App Store in OMAHA. The reply i got is, after they let several technical

support guy looked it, the screen is "FINE". They said they use different manufacturers, so the screens vary from

iphone to iphone.

I cant even believe they said my IP5 's sceen is not yellow. SO ****** OFF!

See, i had yellow screen on my IP4. And i got it exchanged 5 five times to a little bit better one.

I really dont know what to see about APP. I just dont like the yellow screen at all compare to IP4's nature white!

Well, at my point of view, the best solution i could use is waiting for the jellbreak and use a app called COLOR PROFILS. I tried this on my IPAD3, it works well.

Keep me updated guys. And good luck to everyone!!!!!

Yeah, it seems the amount of yellowing differs. Mine was pretty yellow but has definitely become more neutral. My google links are Royal Blue with a hint of purple if I really look at. What bothers me the most are the whites. They just aren't bright like the 4s.

Apple could easily solve most of these issue by including some hue and contrast settings on the device. It's kind of stupid of them not to.

I did go to the Store today compared some phones the look all OK even mine but I knew it was not right

so I explained the problem and she could not see this but just to make me happy she swapped for another one

Seem OK at the store but when i got home the tint was still there !!!!

Took me another Hour to restore from backup 🙂
