Setting up Yahoo mail on iPhone 5--wants verification

I transferred from an iPhone 4 to the iPhone 5. So far so good (well, after ATT managed to activate it, which had to be done verbally and contrary to instructions in the box).


Anyway, I cannot set up my Yahoo mail. After inputting my password in Settings, the iPhone tells me that the account requires verification and to log in to www.yahoo.com. In order to do this you have to leave Settings and go to Safari, so I did and logged in to Yahoo. I have no idea why I did that because it changed nothing. I must be missing something here. Thoughts?

By your point status I can see you spend a lot of time answering questions. This is great and I congratulate you on your initiative to do so and I am happy that people like you contribute to those in search of answers. With that being said, you mentioned "Bumping old, answered threads is considered bad form." Well it just so happens, I am not trying to win over the correct answer; I just simply wanted to provide another solution for others to try. Surely you can see the value in this. I found value in this thread when I had this same issue just recently and found this thread through a search in hopes to find the answer. Though none of the solutions presented worked for me, as I did try a majority of them. I found it relevant that I post the solution that did work for me in an effort to share the information with the community and those who might be experiencing the same issue based on the topic presented. I'm not in it for the points and don't care if I receive best answer or not and I am NOT trying to bump any answer that did work for the initial poster. Furthermore, I will stand by the fact that my answer is relevant to the issue and will work to solve the problem for even newer iPhones 6 users. Even if this topic is several years old.

I had several problems loading Yahoo mail on my iPhone 6 (ios 8.4) , and it would load inconsistently on my Mac book pro and iMac using Apple Mail. What Yahoo failed to mention to it's users is they have special passwords for mail apps. They generate separate passwords for each of these apps.
