Scuffs/Scratches On New iPhone 5 Right Out Of The Box

Just opened my iPhone 5 which I ordered from Apple.com. As soon as I opened the box, I noticed nicks and scuffs in the bezel. I realize that at some point this might happen from normal wear and tear, but right out of the box is unaccepted. Is Apple aware of this and if so, what can be done to get this taken care of?

PyriDJ I'm in the UK that looks very similar to how mine is out of the box same location but the chips are closer together also got a couple of chips on the front next to the screen where the antenna frames join.

My replacement is coming from my local three store but have to wait for stock to arrive. Mind you I still informed apple and got a case number to help things along.

I could go to an apple store but my closest one is over an hour away and stock levels are we're low so it wasn't worth the journey. After following up with apple my local three store agreed to replace my iPhone 5 but I have to wait till the first week in October for stock to arrive. In the meantime I can use my scratched/chipped handset until new stock arrives.

I bought my black iPhone 5 (32 GB) in the Apple Store Munich. Unfortunately, I have scuffs and scratches on my 790€ phone too. Directly after unboxing, I went back to the Apple Store and asked for replacement. The store manager let me open 5 new boxes, but no iPhone was perfekt, scratches everywere. The apple staff is aware of this problem, but they can't do anything.

Is there already an official statement from apple?

Hi Myloveea

I phoned apple support and after explaining that the item arrived defected on arrival they processed a return order. I have recieved an email with a new order for the same model iPhone 5. It says 3-4 weeks on the delivery estimate but I was told to ignore this as I would get it in around a weeks times. I was told I would recieve a follow up email stating this but haven't recieved anything yet.

At the same time they have arranged for a courier to contact me to arrange collection of my current iPhone 5. I said I can't go with out my number for business reasons and seeing as the iPhone 5 is the only phone that supports the Nano sim currently I can't simply switch to a spare phone.

So I was told when the delivery company calls I can arrange the collection date to best suit me. So hopefully I can do this for the iPhone to be collected after or just before the new phone arrives.

I hope this helps.

Well Verizon was happy to send me a replacement, but it won't be shipping until Oct 19th and they will gladly put a hold on the card I used for the cost of the phone that will stay there until they receive the old phone and verify it is damaged. They said I could avoid the hold if I sent in the phone first, but obviously that's not an option as I wouldn't have a phone for almost a month. Thinking about going to an Apple Store and seeing if they have any replacements hiding in the back.
