Scuffs/Scratches On New iPhone 5 Right Out Of The Box

Just opened my iPhone 5 which I ordered from Apple.com. As soon as I opened the box, I noticed nicks and scuffs in the bezel. I realize that at some point this might happen from normal wear and tear, but right out of the box is unaccepted. Is Apple aware of this and if so, what can be done to get this taken care of?

I went into my local Apple store yesterday and after waiting in line for an hour and wasting another hour on the phone with my wireless carrier in the store, finally got one of the last 32GB black iPhone 5's. I then opened it up only to find the black surface peeling off the side exposing the silver beneath. The sales girl was nice enough to get the last 32GB black model they had, I then opened it up only with the same result. Both customers on either side of me also went through 2 or 3 black iPhone 5's, all of them being damaged right outta the box. Apple really screwed up this time!

I have had 3 Iphone 5 64GB in white delivered. Two came with scratches on back panel and the third had mini dents on the cmahfur edge. Apple sort yourself out, if at the end they give customers a flipping case, that defeats the point of having the worlds thinnest and lightest phone, given the case will weigh more than 20g. How can we as consumers let this happen to us, and let apple keep making unrealistic claims. One part of desiging a product is testing it.. to see how durable it is.. i guess the iphone 6 will come with paint which doesn't chip and no doubt apple are busy spending the crazy profits on buying out some small company who make said paint... arghhhhhhhhhhh...

I also think this is here to stay. Can't see of an easy way for Apple to fix this based on these level of perfection standards. My guess is that try will offer refunds, exchange for white if users prefer. Others will have to accept this and take it or leave it. I'm sure they are and possibly were aware of the quality post production. There is no way this would have gotten past Apple inspectors. IMO, they rolled the dice because they had too many produced to recall. Better to fix the damage after. So they will improve the output defect ratios, but the fact that the black is easy to scratch is ours to accept.

This is what I think will be the worse case, but likely the reality.

"no... They said it was free"

I meant that compensation by the $3 stuff will cover all problem... I think, I hope? that we'll get official reply from Apple and it will be loke this "we found thet .... at our factory was .... we kill solve this problem and now ..."...

I'm going to buy my iPhone 5 on early November...

APPLE: THE FIX FOR THIS SCUFFGATE PROBLEM IS SUPREMELY EASY:

Just stop dyeing the aluminum during anodization on the black models. Today. That's it, that's all. Done.

You'll have a black and natural aluminum look that doesn't show minor damage. This look is already present on iPads and is much liked by consumers.

There is NOTHING wrong with a black and natural aluminum combination. Natural aluminum wears, but gracefully - note that you're not hearing the same level of complaints about the white models.

Omit the dyeing process - just call a stop to it at the plants today - and start shipping natural aluminum phones with black pigmented glass that customers won't hate.

Do it now. Thank me later.

EDITED: realized that yes, all aluminum on these models is and must be anodized; I meant stop adding black dye.
