I had the same problem pairing my phone with my car, but it was never the phone. I wasn't in "pairing" mode with my car even though I continiously kept trying to "connect" my phone (I have a 2011 Ford Fusion). I would press the phone key and my car would start to "connect to device" while I was also attempting to find a device on my phone. My Sync never came up in my phone, but that was not due to the phone but due to me not finding the "Add device" button. I'm pretty confidant the connecting problem isn't the phone, but your cars or devices.

I should have been more clear. "Add device" came from my car. My manual stated to press the "phone" key when trying to connect my phone and car through bluetooth. When I did that "Connect Bluetooth device" would appear. I would attempt to connect, but my car would tell me "No Bluetooth device" and my phone would never register "Sync" (Sync runs the bluetooth through my car). Finally after re-reading and reading again the manual I noticed that it said I needed to toggle through the options. Not knowing what that was (because I saw only one option), I finally pressed the "seek" button (to toggle upwards) and the next option became "Add Device". Finally, after doing that my car gave me a PIN number and my phone finally "found" my car's bluetooth. After that I just paired them with the PIN number. I even made an appointment with Apple and talked to them and they told me that was the problem nearly everyone is having with their phones. People keep bringing their phones in because they think they're bluetooth isn't working, but its not the phone its your car. I don't have answers for other bluetooth issues like pairing with other devices, but it also could be the "add device" problem I was having with my car. Hope this helps 🙂

Ptrigueiro,

Your post gave me an idea to try and it worked!

My manual never mentioned pressing the phone button on the steering wheel.

My IPhone 4 just automatically sync'd

So after reading your second post I started my car and turned on my bluetooth

on my IPhone 5 and pressed the phone button on my steering wheel.

I got the "Lady" saying there was no phone associated etc and just followed her

instructions and voila it connected. It has worked all day everytime I have tried it.

Thank you thank you for saying something I could use.

This has been so frustrating and I know many still can't get their IPhone 5's to

work. Good luck to you all!

I've just upgraded to 6.1.2 and found since the upgrade my Bluetooth would not pair. Both iOS devices, iPad and iPhone, would find my Bose wireless speaker but not pair.

I found that by tapping the device (Bose wireless speaker) in Settings, Bluetooth then proceeding to the next page and tapping "forget this device" effectively uninstalling the speaker and removed any memory of a previous installation. I then reinstalled through Bluetooth and the Bose now works perfectly.

I hope this works for you also

I see that I'm not alone with Bluetooth problem...

I just bought an iPhone 5 and cannot communicate anymore for pictures transfer with my

MacBook Pro Snow Leopard 10.6.8

Both Apple products ! I had no problems before with my old MOTOROLA V8...

Anybody with a solution or is it just that Apple Marketing does not want us to by pass iCloud business ?

I hope that many people will post BLUETOOTH complains so that iOS 6.1.2 will get an update from APPLE

That has, in seven years, never been a feature of the iPhone.

Apple doesn't participate here. Posting complaints about their choices in BT profiles my make you feel better but it won't get Apple's attention. Submit your feedback requesting such a feature directly to Apple using the appropriate link on the Feedback page:

Here too, my iPhone5's BT won't work. It recognizes the device I'm trying to connect to, after selecting the device I wish to connect to, it will fail, not even reaching the part where I would enter the passcode. And it does this with whatever BT device I tried. I'm on iOS 6.1.1. I'll try updating to iOS 6.1.2 but from what I've read here, it won't do much good.

I'll update my post afterwards.
