Hi Meg,
I'll agree with you about the overabundance of quotes. Reminds me of Elaine Bennes and her use of exclamation points. (Seinfeld)
Regarding my comments; we live in the most litigious society ever and we are riding the crest of such litigation actions now. There are law firms full of vipers who will sue Apple just to get the walking away money. Cash rich Apple, is a target in their business. I wouldn't sue them. But if my wife or daughters suffer from an automobile accident, directly or indirectly attributible to the failure of our 4 iPhone 5's, lack of hands free capability,my attorney's will be on them like white on rice. And not for walk away money.
No quotation marks; I feel better already.
Perhaps you should suggest to your family that they not do things that are dangerous to do while driving even with hands free equipment. Best evidence is that using a handsfree device has negligible effect of the safety of using a cell phone while driving. The problem is that your attention and focus not on the task at hand. The effect on driver performance of talking on a cell phone on the brain is far different than that of talking to another person in the car.

Say's who, what are you a doctor or something ?
IMHO it's no different, but the fact that eating or smoking while driving is far more dangerous, and you see people doing that day in day out.
Also correcting a persons grammer is a bit lame, stick to the thread topic or don't bother.

You don't have to be a doctor to read the research reports that are readily available on the subject. Even you can find them and read them. And there are older studies that compare talking with a person on a land line telephone and talking to someone in person and come to the same conclusion.
Eating, smoking, putting a CD in the player, reading a book, fixing your hair, they are all called distracted driving and none of them are far more dangerous than the other and they occur every day. But it doesn't make any of them right. And your humble opinion really doesn't count.
As far as sticking to the thread topic, that died long ago and even yours doesn't do that. But in this mini-thread it applies and the point is no lawsuit is going to work in this situation. Trying to sue Apple because your Bluetooth connection didn't work and you just had to make that call to your BFF is a no win situation. The simple answer is to wait to make the call.
I do have to admit the quotes were distracting and even the person who made the post admitted the same. What is lame is to jump into the middle of it.
I think reading a book while driving is pushing it a bit don't you.
As for jimping into the middle of it, well if you care to track back, I've been in the thread from the start so get notifications when a new post is made, hoping it will be about the subject not about quotes in a post.
Just because you have high amount of posts does not make you better than those that post now and then, and maybe if you don't like what you read don't bother, unless you have something constructive to say about the issue in question.
The new OS update today seems to have worked regarding my hit or miss pairing, well at least today anyway.
We will see.
Hi everyone,
Just wanted to contribute with my recent experience with this issue, specifically regarding pairing with car stereo head units. I have a JVC unit, but this advice might apply to any brand:
Most head units can pair with a limited number of BT devices(phones, etc), so every time you have a friend pair up in your car, that pairing occupies a spot in the head unit permenantly. So what happened to me when switching from my 4S to 5 is that there were no more spots left. Make sure you erase your old device(and any other unwanted) out of the system, to make sure there is room for your new iPhone 5!
I apologize if this info has been suggested in the last 35 pages, I didn't have the stomach or the time to read thru all that. Thanks.
I have the same problem pairing my AT&T iPhone 5 with a 2013 BMWxi Bluetooth. Had no problem pairing my iPhone 4S with the same car. Updated the software on the BMW- still did not help. Starting to get real disappointed with Apple products and lack of responsiveness that's either reflective of Corporate arrogance or mere incompetence.
I've paired mine with a 2013 750i so it does work. Try clearing out all pairings from the car and attempts from your iPhone and do it again.
I cleared up the one pairing that I had (an iPhone 4s that had taken one of the four available spots). How do I clear up all the attempts from my iPhone 5, by resetting it? My car is a 2013 535xi - I assume it uses the same software as a 750i.
Thanks for your response.
I have a slightly different problem with my iPhone 5. When I had my iPhone 4, I would start up my Subaru and bingo, everything automatically paired and away we went. Now, I have to take 2 minutes, push a few buttons with the phone *and* the car to get it paired, and I have to do this EVERY TIME I start the car, which is uber-annoying, particularly when compared to the iPhone 4 performance. Any ideas?
Have you tried deleting all the pairings from the car first?
I had some strange issues with my Toyota when I just swapped my 4S for my 5, but once I deleted the pairing from the Toyota head end and re-paired with my 5, the occasional strangeness went away.
My iPhone 3 with iOS 6.1 connected with USB was working fine with my Honda Civic 2013. When I paired my phone using bluetooth-it connected fine and I was able to receive calls. It also switched back to the USB aux music after the call ended. But after sometime, my car audio system just stopped recognizing the phone and said"bad USB". I could play music on bluetooth using my iPhone. However, now both the BTH and USB to the phone dont work. Can't figure out what went wrong suddenly. Tried to restart the phone,re-connect etc. Didn't work. And not my car doesn't detect my USB pen drive as well. Thanks to Apple iPhone-big disappointment. I will try to change the iPhone name and re-pair.I hope they come up with a solution soon.
I think this sounds more like you've a problem with your care stereo drjinalgangar.
Is it a factory fitted stereo or after-market? Either way I 'd be looking at getting it serviced or seeing if there are any firmware updates available for it.
If your family was violating the law and then got injured, that's their problem, not Apple's. It's not up to Apple to make sure you follow the law; that's YOUR responsibility. No attorney worth their salt is going to touch that.
Basically, I wouldn't trust an attorney that accepted that case.
deggie, you are so funny!!!!!! So many people complained about BT problem IPhone 5, and you have only one answer: " oh, I paired my IPhone 5 and it's work great!!!" What are "FISH"????? Apple has a problem with new BT 4.0 and I really upset that I spend almost $700 for iPhone 5 and cannot using BT....awesome !!!!!!(((((
