Lost voice memos

I had a bunch of voice memos on my iphone that wouldn't sync with itunes. I didn't think anything about it and figured it was a glitch that would get fixed. Well, after installing 6.0 OS, all of my voice memos are gone. Is there a way to retrieve these? I need them back, bad!!!!!

Like many others, I am indebted to you. The process was a little more difficult for me. I could not find the voice memos in my first backup. Luckily I had 8 backups to choose from and looked in every one: media domain-recordings-voice memos. Eventually I found it! Thank you so so much from the bottom of my heart. These were recordings of my grandfather who was in the Imperial Iranian Airforce. He talked to me of the revolution that occurred in Iran and what it was like to try to escape a country amidst revolution- being a solider of the falling regime. Anyway, many thanks. Will purchase this software as thanks too!

God Bless

I had recorded a live music session at a pub in Ireland in November. There were 6 voice memos I had recorded. Today, I wanted to use those tunes with my homemade movie of my trip to Ireland, only to realize that the Voice Memos on my IPhone 5 indicated there were no recordings. I had last backed up the phone on Jan 11, 2015, before I upgraded to the new software IOS 8.1.2. The memos were on the IPhone before I did the software upgrade. So I did a restore from the ITunes backup. Still no voice memos. I tried the IExplore app mentioned as well as two other similar products, but they all indicated no voice memos in the backup. While searching my Mac hard drive for where those filed could be located, I found them in my ITunes folder, as follows: MacIntosh HD/Users/Owner/Music/ITunes/ITunes Media/Voice Memos. So, for those of you who have tried unsuccessful to recover your voice memos from the ITunes backup, or using one of the apps listed in the other responses, look on your hard drive. Hopefully you will find them. It appears that whenever you sync your phone with your computer, (at least on the Mac), the voice memos on the IPhone are automatically copied to your hard drive.

You should never try to sync your phone with more than one computer or you will lose your data. The pictures were not deleted because the sync process does not touch Camera Roll pictures (it only includes them during the backup step of the sync process).

If you had these voice memos on your phone when you last synced it to your first computer, and if you haven't synced to this computer since then, you could restore from the backup created during your last sync. This will replace the data on your phone with the data from this older backup so anything new will be lost. If you think that is the case, do not sync your phone again to the first computer prior to restoring from this backup or you will overwrite it and the backup will be lost. Instead, prior to connecting your phone to your first computer, open iTunes and disable automatic syncing by going to iTunes Preferences and on the Devices tab checking "Prevent...from syncing automatically". Then connect your phone and when it appears in iTunes on the left sidebar right-click on its name and select Restore From Backup and choose your last backup (containing your voice memos).

If you didn't have these voice memos on your phone when you last synced to your first computer, or if you have synced again to your first computer since losing your data, then your voice memos and other data are lost.

"If you've backed up your iPhone with iTunes, you can recover deleted voice memos on iPhone.

Disable automatic syncing in iTunes

Connect your iPhone to your computer

Restore the iPhone from a backup."

CoryAshmore is right, you can recover data from iTunes and iCloud backup. But How to do if I don't have any backup, is there any method to help me? One of my facebook friends said I can try iPhone Data Recovery, but I don't know it's safe.It seems many people have used it, do you have a try? Help me, thanks very much!!!

Hi there Wintersong (and others with this issue reading this),

Thanks in advance for you help here. My question and issue is quite similar.. (no previous backups performed)

I was attempting to actually save my Voice Memos from an old iPhone 4 with the recordings into iTunes. I guess I followed or misunderstood the instructions to relocate memos, and after the synch all extremely important voice memos are now gone.. Gut wrenching and heartbreaking..

After following all of your multiple sets of instructions, only a few (2) of the voice memos have showed in explorer media files.. double gut wrenching 😟

During the synch process, I quit halfway through, when I noticed what was happening to the files, however the Voice Memos do not show on iPhone and yet, the full synch from iTunes tracks has overwritten the iPhone 4.

Being that all voice memos are not showing in demo version of iExplorer, are the others not showing gone?

Is there any other option for me? A reset? A restore option? (again no backup to cloud or other device)

Another restore ap to try?

Finally, would jailbreaking with file search ( think thats what I read) locate them? (I know nothing of this, I have just been digging to find answers and this came up on some threads)

Thank you to the people on this thread, and winter song for their help! Please help!
