iOS 6 battery life terrible

iPad 3 updated to iOS 6 and as usual it was 100% charged when I went to bed. Woke up and battery totally drained. I'm guessing iOS 6.1 is needed ASAP?

I'm surprised to be hearing about battery life issues since iOS 6 update. I have iPhone 4 as of now (iPhone 5 on way). I did the update to iOS 6 and don't seem to be having any issues at all with battery life seems to be better actually. Normal routine is unplug from charger at 6 a.m. and don't plug back in till 11-12 pm and I'm still 30% or above around that time. I do the usual a day: text, call, e-mail, browse web, stream music, watch some youtube videos here and there, play an occassional game or two. Read news: cnet, engadget, etc. I have drained battery since iOS 6 update. I do have my email set to be manually pushed instead of every hour, 30 min or 15 min. Brightness set to 40% - 50%. Maybe try a setup like I've mentioned and see if that helps?

So, I let my ipad 3's battery drain until my ipad shut off.....let it completely recharge....and shut off iCloud for Safari. Today, my battery life seems to be pretty normal. I have been using it all evening and periodically throughout the day Nd it is only down to 67% where as before it was draining extremely fast. So maybe this "fixed" the problem? I think there is an issue with iCloud and safari that cause it to drain the battery.

I'm experiencing the same situation on iPad2. There's a plain, substantial and unmistakable decline in battery life immediately following the upgrade to iOS 6. I often use iPad for an extended period, but usually I've got 30%-50% left by the time I go to bed. Had less than 10% left yesterday.

Obviously, there's a problem here. Let's hope they resolve it asap.

Update: I reset my Verizon iPhone4 (press and hold home and power button) after it had lost about 50% of its charge over 3 hours of no use. Now, 5 hours after I finished charging, it still has 87% of its charge (light Safari use). Perhaps, in my case at least, this fixed it. If others try this fix, let us know how it works.

Thanks.

It is all some sort of sabotage! What better way to get people to buy new phones. Send little bombs in the updates.

It happened to my first iPhone, battery life was just fine until there was an update or might of been a new iOS. Then the battery wouldn't last more than 20 minutes. Luckily this time nothing happened to my iPhone 4. It's just bad luck and apple isn't going to do anything about it. You are SOL!!!! Sorry to be so blunt.

My iPad 3 is finally working well. After my previous posts on horrible battery life, I did a delete all settings and data reset which did not previously help, but this time after it reset I connected to iTunes and did a software restore. Since this was done my battery life has gone back to and is possibly better than iOS 5. I have used the iPad quite a bit today and still have 87 percent left. Before this "double reset" it would have been at 45-55 percent with the same usage. I have also used safari quite a bit today so for me anyway the drain must have been buried in the os and not a specific safari bug.
