iOS 6 battery life terrible
iPad 3 updated to iOS 6 and as usual it was 100% charged when I went to bed. Woke up and battery totally drained. I'm guessing iOS 6.1 is needed ASAP?

Woke up in morning, and after another 9 hours in standby phone (no charging) was at 95%, way better than it had been doing.
Went out for breakfast, came back, phone was at 99% (?)
Went out all day (8 hours), phone slowly dropped to 95%
Made no calls, no surfing, no music, just standby
This was all with no charging
IOS 6.0
On ipad 3 becouse i have a problem short battery life , i restore my ipad 16 gb wifi and set up as a new ipad on ios 6 . This ipad is NEW. One mounth old! 2x times RESTORE . BUT THAT DIDN'T FIX BATTERY SHORT LIFE !!!!! 4h Hours SHORTER at the same usage and same settings I realy love apple product's , but this is not first time that apple have a big problem to back previously "good" BATTERY . IT'S HORRIBLE !!!!! IF THAY DON'T FIX BATTERY ISSUSE VERRY SOON this is my LAST product i bought !!!!!! I am a user which i have iphone 4, 4s, now iphone 5 and ipad 3 (new ipad). Just to add in ... I have done everything anyone in a forum has posted. Restored my phone, shut off practically every thing and the problem persists. At this point I am running the phone and messaging. Location and notification services are all off and every app shut down. I've gone as far as deleting them from the phone for the time being. This is absurd. With just moderate use my phone lasts at best 4-6 hours much less over night. I'm used to Apple introducing problems with a softare release but rendering my phone almost useless is slightly beyond reason.
.... Sigh ....
I finally bit the bullet, and wiped the iPad and downloaded the iCloud backup.
BATTERY LIFE IS MUCH, MUCH WORSE
Dropped from 100% to 21% in 8 hours, mostly standby
For what it is worth, The steps I've listed above have worked very well for me (16 GB iPhone 4 on Verizon, about 20 months old). Even under iOS 5, battery life had been getting shorter. Now, on iOS 6 battery life is much longer, certainly much longer than it had been when I first upgraded to iOS 6. I charged up during the evening last night, and uplugged it before I went to bed. Spent a few minutes playing a game, did some web surfing and made a couple of phone calls. Now the phone is at 84%, about 13 hours after I finished charging. That is probably as good as I've ever seen with this phone.
Of course, your mileage may vary...
Sorry to reply a second time, but I thought I should say what services, etc., are on. Bluetooth, Wifi, notifications (for about half my programs that requested it) and location services (for most programs that requested it, including Maps, AroundMe, UrbanSpoon, etc.) all on.
I've got thу same problem as you. But I've got iphone 4 without S. What are we going to do? The battery is low afthe half day. I'm doing the same things with my iphone as I used ios 5. I don't want ios 6.
When did this become the iPhone forum? This is the iPad forum.
It's just pops up in Google top 3 when you try to find a solution for the iPhone battery drain in iOS 6.
IPad battery is fine, never better. As long as all apps on the iPad are erased and is set up as new on a new computer. Apps are crappy and need to be updated one by one.
That's right. I reinstalled os X and everything. Reminds me of Windows 95, Hahaha.
I have just updated to iOS6 and wish I had not bothered. I have no Battery Life now. have gone from 100% charge to 20% in 4 hours. Tried Restore to factory settings, turning the suggested settings off but nothing changes!
I have an Iphone 4 that is virtually unusable without being connected to a power supply.
The only luck I've had with all the recommendations is to turn off the option to send Diagnostics and usage data in Settings > About > Diagnostics & Usage, and to use my phone until it dies (turns itself off) 5 or 6 times.
It's almost like battery stats have to be relearned when you update or something. Folks I know that are new to iPhone and didn't upgrade are doing fine. But everyone I know that upgraded... even those that upgraded their phones and OS at the same time, like me, are having the problem.
I was killing my iPhone 5 in 4 hours of standard use when I first got it and restored from my 4s. Now I can go just short of two days, but there was no improvement until I killed it completely. Then charged to full and it was a little better so I repeated... I can live with what I have now.
Hope that helps. I feel your pain. :-(
Any reason you are posting in the iPad forum?
Sorry I guess I have to put my Iphone issue in the iPad forum down to blind frustration!
This is where Apple support engines takes a search for iphone 4 ios6 battery.
And by the way, I have an ipad 2 & Iphone 4. the iPhone 4 is now worthless thanks to the ios 6 update and dramatically reduced battery life. Get used to this, Apples' new and improved planned for expedited planned obsolescence. The cool factor and design genuis behind the original iPhone is gone, time to look at the competition.
