iPhone 5 battery life is way worse than iPhone 4

I just got an iphone 5 and I restored a backup from my iPhone 4 so I have the same settings. But the iphone 5 drains way faster than my two year old very well used iPhone 4 which is running 5.1.1. Is it because of IOS 6? Just leaving it sitting overnight lost about half the battery. My iPhone 4 hardly uses any battery while it sits overnight.

Or do I have a bad battery on my new phone?

Here my experience.

After lot of weeks with my battery discharging in a couple of hours, after a long chat with Apple support, after bad toughts like "throw against the wall", I did this steps:

. remove the cover with aluminium backside my son gave me

. set up the phone as new

. synchronize (instead of restore previous backed up from my iPhone 4)

. be amazed (from 6.00am 100% to 11.30pm 35% surfing, mailing, facebooking, twitting, calling with wirless and 3G allways on).

I swear I do not understand but i guess that the cover with aluminium backside win!

Hey cocktail, I did get a new phone. I returned it literally more times than I should admit lol but I wanted what I paid for.

Anyway this is a brand new phone built in December. I did a fresh install of the new software, battery much better- except I'm completely with you on the wifi situation! *** is that? It connects but it is so weak! Even in front of the router the bars drop! Very weird... I'll take better battery over wifi any day tho (as if I should have to) annoying.

Working fine here. Perhaps a hard reboot (home>sleep button combo) Or if that doesnt help a settings>reset>reset network settings. If still not working settings>reset>reset all settings (which wont dump your data or apps). Lastly if none of those steps work, restore from iTunes.

BTW did you do OTA update or iTunes full update? I have performed OTA and so far no issues to speak of but lots of folks with issues have to do iTunes full restore to resolve quirky stuff like that.

I am a 4s user not iPhone 5 so want to be clear there.

maybe you should get the phone replaced. Because even on 6.0.1 where wifi was a huge issue i was still getting full bars and it would drop as i go away from it. Which indicates it is working as expected. I am on 6.1 official build and my wifi has always been the same. I had beta 5 yesterday before i restored to the official build and the battery lasted me about almost a full day with almost 7hrs of usage on lte. I guess every iphone 5 works differently compared to others..

Not seeing any major difference. Held charge at 100% for about 30 minutes. Now the usage is 1 Hour 43 minutes and the battery reads 77%. No heavy usage. Just one message over whatsapp. 7-8 web pages optimized for mobile phones. 3-4 emails - reading and not writing. That's pretty much it. Push email was on. Now have switched that off. Pretty disappointed. User uploaded file

Note: I am on 3G. And that is what I am disappointed with.

I see as expected stats on Wi-Fi. 2G is okay ( around 6.30- 7.00 hours of usage)
