iPhone 5 / iOS 6: Can't sync music via iTunes anymore (Screenshot attached)

Hello everyone,

yesterday I got my iPhone 5 with iOS 6, everything is working fine except of the music app. When I sync music from my iTunes library to my iPhone everything seems to work properly, no errror messages etc. The music also shows up in my music app but every song is greyed out, the cover is missing and I can't play any song. I tried syncing manually, I deleted my whole library and started over, I synced automatically, nothing works.

Anyone can help?

So glad to have found your post. I just got an iPhone 5S today and had them set it up for me. They transferred everything from the cloud and I think that is the issue. Your fix (or the one you saw here somewhere) worked perfectly and much easier than the other fix of restoring the phone back to factory and starting over. Thanks!

Oh geez, I hit reply to a post thinking my response would be right under his but instead it's on the next page. I was referring to this quote when I said it worked perfectly.

I saw in one of the other similar posts that a person said to unclick the "sync music" box, sync, re-click sync music, disconnect, reconnect, and then re-sync. I missed the disconnect and reconnect part, so it didn't work, but when I disconnected/reconnected, it worked. It was as if my phone didn't fully sync previously because it literally had to sync all of my music. However, now the endless shuffling and greyed out lists are gone. It works just as it should! Hope this works for you too! 🙂

After a lot of trial and error, I believe what made the difference for me was a fix that you'd think doesn't have a direct effect, but I realized that when I back up my iphone, I'd been doing it through the cloud, and so for the first, time, I backed up my iphone to my computer itself. Somehow, doing this enabled my iPhone to finally "speak directly" to my computer's iTunes library, and so finally, I've been able to get my selected songs and playlists onto my iphone from my computer's Itunes library, instead of winding up with all the greyed out clutter on the phone. Hope this helps! Becky

Hi all!

I finally managed to sync all my music into my iPhone 5 with iOS 7.0.4 via latest iTunes. I first had to delete all playlists and libraries on my iTunes and then add my albums back to it. After that I went to iPhone in iTunes and did manual syncing by choosing those albums I had just added, and it worked! Make sure you also have set iTunes to NOT sync eveything automatically. Hope this works for all of you! I had to go almost a month without musc to my gym, so happy it's back on 🙂!

Thanks that worked perfectly without a hitch. Folks who are having probelms just simply

1. Click Music tab Not Music Settings Tab but Music Tab

2. Click Autofill in the lower right hand corner

things to note

ensure your pc is authorized if you purchased your music froma different account it still will sync it with the auto fill option

and thats it itunes will automatically throw your music lib onto your device without removing whats already there. i am using iphone 5s and it worked perfectly
