Infinit G37 and iPhone 5

Wondering if anyone else is experiencing problems with car connectivity and the new iPhone 5 or older phones with ios 6.

My Problem:

Just got the iPhone 5 yesterday and was wondering if anyone is having a similar problem to mine. The phone paired without easily to my 2011 Infiniti G37 with navigation. Outgoing calls work fine. The problem is with incoming calls. When a call comes in it appears on my info screen as before, but as soon as I answer the call goes dead and the screen reverts back to where it was before the call. While it seems as if the call has been disconnected, in reality if I go to the audio source screen on the phone I can choose "MY CAR" and the call comes through the audio system but with massive interference. As always, Apple blames it on the car bluetooth system. This system worked flawlessly with my iPhone 4S and my wife's 4.

Was just at the Infiniti dealership last week. Gave me an 800 number to call (Infiniti USA, option 7) and finally was connected to someone in their "Bluetooth Group" (if you can believe such a group exists, you ask for them by name).

The guy in the Bluetooth Group at Infiniti told me they were aware of the issue and that their engineers have been in touch with Apple regarding this problem. (Now whether or not that means they have contacts with Apple's actual engineering group, or they called the same 800-MY-APPLE number we do, who knows...).

This same person said that Apple is working on a fix and that an Apple iOS update (not an update to the Infiniti headunit software) would resolve the issue and be coming out from Apple. He also said that this same issue was affecting other makes of cars (don't know if he was just talking about Nissan, or other brands outside of the family).

So, I think the general answer is wait....

I imagine that the fix will be baked in with some iOS update over the next 6 months that won't even mention the Bluetooth car fix, one day we'll update our phones and notice it works again.

Until then, we have very expensive Bluetooth speaker phones that don't work as they should...

I have a 2013 FX37 Special Edition that I took delivery of the first week of October and an iPhone5 a couple weeks prior. I've had this same issue since day one. Any calls that I receive I can't hear nor can the caller hear me, the stereo goes on Mute, but I can't hear the caller. However when I make a call out it works fine. Hoping a fix comes soon.

I found a solution...though it's not ideal. Answer the phone manually with your iPhone not the car controls. Answer it in speaker mode or iPhone mode, not "my car" mode (aka the problematic car mode), then after a couple seconds hit"my car" and voila you should be able to talk ok. I've been doing this when I get an incoming call

care to share that number... I'll take it off-line. I'm an Appleseeder and Beta Tester for a few more software companies and would love to talk more with people that "get it." I had a lenghty coversation with the sales and service people about remote starting my wifes car when I was purchasing it last X-Mas and they clearly didn't understand that all the tech infustructure was already there for allowing remote start... Shortly afterwards the JX came out with the four button key fob. I told then that I dont mind buying new fobs to allow for remote start.

Was at the dealer today and the service manager told me there is a fix for the problem. A Bluetooth update will be available in about a week or two for installation. He said an Infiniti tech was at the dealership with a test copy last week and they tried it in a G. The phone now works fine. He is calling me as soon as he gets his release copy and he will install as soon as I can get to the dealership.

Hopefully this will be the answer

Will let everyone know when it's done.

Does anyone know if the bluetooth update will apply to slightly older Gs as well? I have an '08 G35S and the bluetooth has not been working properly since iOS 5.

I would like to believe Apple is working on a fix, but I'm skeptical at this point. I've been on the phone with them and visited the Genius Bar twice. They basically said there's nothing they can do.
