iPhone 5 Microphone not working?

I took it back anyway... I'm still waiting for a response! It's frustrating! I thought, all that money I paid for that phone and it hasn't even been a year!

After speaking with an AT&T instore sales rep, who sugested I buy a new phone, I tried your solution and it worked. Thanks!!!

Problem comes from the sensor on the screen next to the speaker once it's blocked it's working fine so it's either the sensor or the flex cable

Thank you applxperience for this suggestion to turn on hearing aid mode---it fixed my iPhone 5 microphone that began having issues after they replaced the battery. It works perfectly now!

As mention before from some users it seems to be the flex cable which is also connected to the front camera inside your iPhone. I realized it by recording a video and pressing my iPhone 5s on the right side of the front camera. After playing the video I could hear my voice when pressing the spot.

So now I ordered a new front camera including the flex cable and will replace it. That is okay, because the quality of the front camera was ****** anyway. Some dust was blurring the video and I planned to do it anyway.

So, yes it is a hardware problem. But luckily it costs only about 6 EUR and 15 minutes work with a little help of Youtube.

Had same problem. Went to voice memos and recorded a sample. Went back to microphone and it now works.

My iphone 5s is working really fine, sensors, speaker, camera everything is okay. even, the microphone working really good when i make a call using "whassapp", "Line" etc. and i can record video , talk to Siri, using voice memo, and once more my microphone working really good. BUT ! when i make phone call and receiving phone call my microphone doesn't work, they can't hear my voice at all. what happen with my microphone when using cellular phone call ??

IM having the same issues, I can record a voice memo but can not get video front or back to pick up sound as well *** the person on the other end of a speaker phone call can not hear me. Siri will not respond as well. Nothing has happened to my phone except a software upgrade. I'm pretty disappointed that Apple has not yet put out a fix for this problem because it is a software issue not a hardware issue. The newer phones 6 seem to work fine with the software it's all of the iPhone 5 customers who have been boned by this issue. Good luck trying to fix it without a software update from Apple, whenever that may be.

Everyone who's Mic doesn't work on Speaker or front camera Video or on SIRI. I had same issue on one of my customer iphone 5C. I have replaced Front Camera Proxy Senser Cable(it's just one cable which include front camera MIC & sensor, easily can get on ebay). the problem is gone. 🙂

I my self tried all other things but at the end that what made the problem go away. don't change your phone or goes to apple care unless you are a very rich person.

How to do a replacement?? Any procedure?

Using speaker mode is a quick fix, but not convenient for making private calls.
