iPhone 5 short battery life?

I was lucky and got my new phone yesterday, but the battery barely lasts. After checking my email for about 30 seconds i lose 2%. I made sure nothing was running in the background, but the drain is worse than my 3GS I just upgraded from. Any suggestions?

Sooooooo many threads about the battery. Come on Apple, say something. Anyways, someone posted something interesting that fixed his battery issue:

"The only thing I did, and it worked perfectly for me, was to turn off iCloud for Passbook. That's it. So, before getting into really drastic measures, you may want to try this simple one. Good luck!"

I'm trying it now and will post if it worked, still re-charging my iP5 for the third time today. 😠

mabad1, Apple has made six iPhones now. This is my sixth iPhone. I got each one at launch. There is no setting that would cause this phone to drain 1% every 3 to 4 minutes. Your post is unhelpful and you are a pest.

My iPhone 5 has the exact same settings as my 4s did. There is a problem battery life. Turning off location services entirely has absolutely no effect. Do you understand that? Can you read?

If you have an iPhone 5 (which I sincerely doubt) and it's working fine, great for you! Go away.

I have a Genius Bar appointment and one half hour and report back what I learn. If this is a software issue we'll simply have to wait for a fix, if it's a hardware issue I'll be swapping mine out. By the way, my phone's battery drained 2% in time that I typed this.

Hey Guys,

Not sure if I'm prechin to the choir but try SYS Activity manager. It helps, i get almost a full day out of my iP5. Point to note is, there's still a lot of active memory being used, seems as though I have 300mb of system memory used at all times, this will chew the battery fast.

Has anyone messaged or called Apple regarding this issue? I plan to chat with them tomorrow. If we all give them a call they will most likely get on this matter, if they aren't already.

Cheers,

M

Apple Users,

I had the iPhone 5 Battery drain problems and the only things I did were delete my Exchange account then re-add it, AND discharge the battery and use the Battery Doctor app to let me know when it was fully charged including trickle. I completed this at 10AM EST this morning and my battery has performed great all day! Right now at 65% and that was after 2 hours of streaming radio while working in the garage!

I've been plagued with the same battery hemorrhaging problems.

I've gone through a full charge and waiting for it to fully discharge now. After reading this thread I'm going to follow some of the advice about turning off certain settings (iCloud/location/etc)

If it does come out that it is a hardware problem I will want to get it swapped out. Unfortunately I have "dinged" the corner last night. What's the chances of apple telling me to bugger off? Even though I diagnosed the problem before my accident?
