iPhone 5 camera flash sync speed off

I have a similar problem. iPhone 5, 64GB, white. The flash hasn't worked at all. I tried a hard reset, reset all settings, and restore. No luck with anything. Apple is shipping me a new one, we'll see if this fixes the issue.

Same problem. Doesn't happen all the time but every now and then - really annoying because if I want to show it to somebody, it usually works fine.. Is it a hardware or a software problem? Did all of you return your phones?

In my case the flash wouldn't work at all. I returned the phone for a replacement and it works fine.

I might be wrong on this matter. It seems that the flash is stronger compared to Iphone 4/4S. With stronger flash, the aperture of the camera becomes bigger to let it lesser light hence darker picture. I had resorted to use HDR mode for better dark environment pictures.

Hard reset not helping, or maybe helps for a short time.

Mine got replace due to another thing, my previous iphone 5 had the same issue. This replaced iphone still has the flash out of sync issue, seems to be a software thing. When I do a soft reset it's gone for some days and then returns.

New iPhone 5 here, flash and camera are not in sync! Called apple and they mentioned it would need to be repaired. Tried soft reset, hard reset, and still off. This needs go be fixed ASAP.

UPDATE: i had my phone swapped for a new one like 2 weeks ago, and i thought the flash problem was gone.. but it just did it again today. It took longer to fail, but i did. I just cant figure if its hardware or software. I dont want to exchange my phone again, i think the new one will have the same issue and its just wasting my time. Lets hope its just software and that it will be fixed soon.

Had the same problem, downloaded first free camera from app store, no more problems. Hope that helps.

I had this issue with my previous iphone 5 and two days ago I replaced for a new one, two days works fine and today it's flash problem back I think it's software problem not hardware, fingers cross and will wait for a new iso 6.1 or something else

I've been having the same issue with my 32GB iPhone 5. It must be some type of Apple software problem. When I first got my phone, the flash worked fine. But at a special event last night, my phone was intermittenly flashing and giving me dark photos. After closing the camera app and doing a soft reset it worked again. I hope this problem doesn't persist. I was considering going in and exchanging the phone but after reading this thread and others, I don't think it will resolve the issue long term.

Same problem here! Flash won't sync with shutter. Power off and back on fixes it for a bit but eventually the problem returns. It sounds software related but who knows! I'll call Apple and complain! Everyone with the issue should!

Looks like a software bug and it's going to be fixed in iOS 6.0.1

Lets hope above is true and iOS 6.0.1 will fix our problem.

The issue is that the flash is not syncronized with the camera shoot

If ios 6.01 resolved the problem of the flash that don't going off the problem of sync
