IPHONE 5 overheating and battery issues

HI ,

I have bought my IPhone 5 64g yesterday and unfortunately I'm thinking of returning it back to apple , because of 2 issues

1- when I'm using the Iphone 5 , I feel the back of the device really gets overheated.

2- the battery life is not as announced , it does not last that much.

I'm really disappointed , if someone knows what's exactly the problem or how to solve it , please say something

Thanks

I have this problem both on iPhone 5 and iPad 3 since IOS 7.1 update. The machines overheat, do not sync calendars, very frustrating. I tried to tund off a buch of things, restarted , spent hours and at this point both iPhone and iPad are almost unusable. Apple did a bad upgrade and they don't want to ackowlege it. ,y daughter has the same problem with her iPhone 5 😠

SOLVED! At least on my iPhone 5 and on my iPad 3... it took me one full day and it's 100% solved now. Here is what I did

1. Deleted all my email accounts (4 Gmail, 2 Outlook and the iCloud account)

2. When deleting the iCloud account I said to delete all contacts calendars, etc.

3. Restarted the device

4. Created the iCloud account (disabled Safari sync and calendars)

5. Moved my iCloud Calendar to Gmail

Not only the phone doesn't overheat, the battery life is back to normal and my calendars work once again.

My thoughts: There is a major conflict with the Calendars on iCloud and the ones on Google accounts. If I activate Calendars on iCloud and Gmail they all disappear (no calendars show on the devices)

Anyways I hope this hepls someone

I'll begin by saying I have never had ANY problems with my iphone 5 ( have had it for 1 1/2 yrs) until last night... had to run into WalMart after work, and as I was walking down aisle, I noticed a very warm/almost hot sensation in my pocket; reached in to grab my phone & it was surprised how unusually warm/almost 'hot' to the touch it was-?! (even after normal extended use, it's never gotten this warm.) semi panicked, as I immediately thought of those 'news' stories about someones iphone 'blowing up'/catching fire in their pocket, etc. In addition to being so warm, it wouldnt turn on; just displayed a black screen with the Apple logo on it, that would fade in & out, then 'vibrate' a couple of times...I pressed and held both the home and sleep/wake button to try & restart it - the screen then displayed a 'pin-stripe' pattern then shut down. Finished my shopping, got out to my car & tried to turn it back on, only to get the black screen with the Apple logo, the intermittent vibrating, then the logo fading in & out. My 1st thought was that the battery/charge was very low, but knew when I left work it was at least 80% charged. Got home & plugged into my mac/desktop to see if I could get it to sync with itunes...it did, but then it would fade out again & not show up in itunes summary/devices screen - only to pop back up again there a few minutes later. I left it plugged in & this went on for a good 1/2 hr; I figured for whatever reason the phone was dead/fried (even though Ive never gotten it wet OR dropped it in any way shape or form.) Finally checked itunes screen again before giving up and was able to hit the 'restore iphone' button - and it worked! Phone restored, redownloaded, etc, and has been (fingers crossed) good as new all day today... My question is, WTH happened/caused this issue in the 1st place? Has anyone else ever had this happen? Should I contact Apple & let them know?? Any feedback is appreciated.
