I have bought my IPhone 5 64g yesterday and unfortunately I'm thinking of returning it back to apple , because of 2 issues
1- when I'm using the Iphone 5 , I feel the back of the device really gets overheated.
2- the battery life is not as announced , it does not last that much.
I'm really disappointed , if someone knows what's exactly the problem or how to solve it , please say something

i bought an iphone 5s 16g and this problem only occur when im using it too long while charging. What i do is turning it off then start it again. Anyways this doesnt often occur so i kinda reccomend you to not buy iphone 5 and 5c.
MY friend is using an Iphone 5 and i never really noticed him having the phone overheated.
i bought an iphone 5s and it overheats very rarely, usually when im charging the phone + using it too long.
i kinda reccomend you not to buy iphone 5 or 5c.
My friend has an iphone 5 but i never really notice it getting hot. Maybe because he updates the software. I will check some time if his phoneactuall verheats
Frank Malloy you are extremely right. I'm aslo having same issue .phone is getting heat while seeing videos, and using 3g Network. i have given my device for service .its been 7 days, but they are saying device is still under testing. What do I think from this? does apple don't have capability to replace single iPhone?😮 . I have a trust on Apple , but gradually it's gonna reduce .
Dear Apple please respond, because its a coyly device and we have value to money.

Yes they do get very hot and Apple is not fixing the problem just issuing phones until warranty runs out. this is my 4th phone in less then 11 months....
Turn down Brightmess or put onto auto bright setting. This saves heaps of power and cooled my phone down. Also close all history web pages down running in the back ground. Do this by clicking the bottom button twice The page history will come up then just flick them off the screen.
Even i face the same problem,
there is no reply from apply but there is some small tricks to avoid it, but i dont like it though
I am using in 2G mode for internet
disable auto screen brightness
wallpaper setting set it as still dont use perspective in wallpaper setting
maybe if when they release the IOS 10 this fall that may fix this heating issue.
i had enough with lower configuration setting i am using.
come on its 4G mobile but i am using in 2G to save battery life.
Unfortunately I reset mine twice and it didn't work. Mine makes the charger extremely hot and my phone too and the battery dies in a split second @iphone5s

In my case it only happens while using the nytimes app. I have read elsewhere this is most often bad app code. Monitor which apps are open and running.
