Battery life on iPhone 5

The battery life on my iPhone 5 barely last 5 hours in fact I'm losing about a percent a minute. My iPhone 4 which I had from the very beginning of the release of the iPhone 4 With the original battery last much longer then my new iPhone 5 does. This is very disappointing! I hope that this is a software issue and that it can be fixed with a very soon to come software update.

I have restored from IPhone 4 and I am seeing very low battery life as well compaired to my IPhone 4. I can go 2 days without charging my IPhone 4, but my IPhone 5 will bairly survive the day. I remember getting my IPhone 4 and loving how it lasted 3 days before a charge, the IPhone 5 is no where as good. Lets hope it's just a software update that resolves the issue.

I did mine as a new phone. I have an old as dirt 3G & itunes on my PC wouldn't install the new update. I just used icloud & set this one up new & then redownloaded all my apps from itunes on my phone & transfered contacts list from my hubby's 4s through the cloud.

Mine is dropping battery like a brick! I did some research & the batteries came from 2 different manufacturers & a standards test showed that only around 30% passed quality inspections.

I believe apple knows which batteries are subpar & to meet shipping deadlines shipped them anyway. I'll just about bet a toe that the 2nd round of phones shipped has top quality batteries because of no time crunch. By that time there will be only a small % of us complaining about batteries that most will think we are crazy because most of them probably work just fine.

I'm glad that most phones aren't having trouble. I just ask for those who aren't having problems to believe those of us who are. I've seen several threads about poor battery life & lots of responses that are a bit rude. We have every iphone every released at my house. A 3G 8GB, a 3Gs 16gb, 4 16gb, 4s 32 gb, & now a 5 32Gb. I am not crazy. I have dealt w/ iOs issues, reception issues, & battery issues before & I KNOW what an iphone battery should be able to do. Especially right out of the stinkin' box!

I worry that apple will not admit that some phones went out w/ batteries from a Chinese manufacturer after they realized their Taiwanese factory wasn't going to meet its quota in time. I'm guessing around 15% of the first round have Chinese batteries.

This post isn't directed at you-BTW. ;)

I seem to be experiencing the exact same issues. On launch day when I got my new iPhone 5 (around 10:15 am CST) and got it all set up (from a previous backup), I charged it up to around 95%. By that evening (around 6 or 7pm) it COMPLETELY died. With my iPhone 4, it would last 2 to 3 days without needing a charge!! I hope a fix is comming soon. I have already disabled all "unnecessary" location services items AND disabled all iCloud syncing items, still no help. I loose approx 10-15% per hour! Maybe I will take it into an apple store to see if they have any ideas.

One thing I have noticed is that if you shut the phone off then on... it shows a different battery percentage than what it did prior to the power down. For example, my battery recently showed a 75% charge and I had to turn the phone off, because I was having a different issue. After I cut it right back on, it showed a 78% charge...

Don't know if this is a software bug or a hardware issue but hopefully it gets sorted out soon.
