Battery life on iPhone 5

The battery life on my iPhone 5 barely last 5 hours in fact I'm losing about a percent a minute. My iPhone 4 which I had from the very beginning of the release of the iPhone 4 With the original battery last much longer then my new iPhone 5 does. This is very disappointing! I hope that this is a software issue and that it can be fixed with a very soon to come software update.

I went to the apple store in Columbus, Ohio today to have them fix my wife's old iPhone 4(it was stuck in restore mode), as I was talking to the person at apple about why my wife's phone was doing that I asked him why the battery life was so poor on the the new iPhone and why I had to charge it almost 3 times yesterday? Keep in mind that I'm 38 years old and he's probably 20-22 years old, he's response to me was that I needed to stop playing with my phone. I wished I'd gotten his name because I was so furious that I looked at him and said, I'm not some kid and I've had every iPhone since day one and that just because I got the new iPhone that I was constainly on it. That right there is why I will never step foot in an apple store again and I will now do my shopping from them online.

Hi I have charged mine twice a day since Friday, this must be a iOS 6 issue as stated this is affecting the 4 4s, why should we turn off notifications etc I paid full price therefore I want to get what I pay for, spoke to apple and they said that this is not right 100% at 9am 46% at 12pm light use this morning so they have me booked in with a genius on Thursday to replace the phone as there is also a rattle near the the camera. Did a hard reset also yesterday no difference today.

Hello everyone,

Same problem here everyone. I charged my phone this morning until I had 100% my phone has only been on standby all morning since 8am. It is now 12pm and I am at 85% with hardly any use a text here and there. I owned an iPhone 4 before same scenario, but by this time in the afternoon I had about 92-94% charge. Seems like the battery drops really fast compared to any of my previous iPhones. If anyone finds a solution to this problem please advise.

Thanks,

got mine on Friday, yes I'm impressed with the phone itself, but I'm going to be honest, it's meant to be a mobile phone my battery lasts about 5 hrs! It's pathetic, had the phone for 4 days and it basically plugged in all the time. I feel I want to get rid of it already! What's the point if it doesn't work when your out and about. This must be fixable.

Have any of you verified your Location Services settings? This has been a culprit in past iphone releases and I wonder if this part of the problem?

In IOS6, under Settings-> Privacy -> Locations Services

Uncheck anything that doesn't require checking in via cellular

Scroll all the way down to SYSTEM SERVICES

Uncheck anything that you don't use. I only have Cell network search, Compass Calibration, and Traffic on.

I did turn off every location service I could find- Including find my iphone. I also double checked my email fetch settings & changed them to manual ect.. I turned auto brightness off too. I turned off all push notifications too. At this point-i'm not sure what the point is if I can't even use the features. I'm running on a strong 16-18mbps uverse signal & LTE is off. Still drops for no reason at home & if I'm outside my house & on a 4G signal-it drops like a countdown clock.

I just got off the phone with Apple support. The first thing they asked me was whether or not I had any Exchange accounts configured. In fact, I have two: one for my business and one for my client. The particular setting the support rep was concerned about was the heartbeat interval. I was sent the following link:

http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1868?viewlocale=en_US

I'm going to look into it for my own server, as it's the first time I've used an iPhone against it. My client's server is probably fine, otherwise every iPhone owner in the company would have encountered this problem with the iPhones they currently have.
