Battery life on iPhone 5

The battery life on my iPhone 5 barely last 5 hours in fact I'm losing about a percent a minute. My iPhone 4 which I had from the very beginning of the release of the iPhone 4 With the original battery last much longer then my new iPhone 5 does. This is very disappointing! I hope that this is a software issue and that it can be fixed with a very soon to come software update.

Would anyone suggest a trip to apple store at this stage.

My iPhone 5 is dying quick, it was at 79% at 10am after a full recharge overnight, at 3:31pm it was at 32% and right now (Sydney time) 4pm it's at 22% and sinking quick

I've got a 64gb restored off a 4 backup, mind you the 4 was playing music all night off charge and sits at 69% right now (I'm holding both because I haven't setup my music yet)

This seems to be beyond a software bug, seems like a few dodgy batteries to me!

Gave Apple a chance with the iphone 5, and this is an absolute joke....

Everything turned off (passbook, safari sync, location services, etc.), LTE turned off, set up as brand new phone since never had an iphone, and this is what I get after a full charge overnight and leaving home at 7:25am starting at 100%:

User uploaded fileUser uploaded file

This is almost at a rate 18-20% depletion an hour with minimal usage, only music on the train, instant messaging, and looking at a couple of pictures!!! What's going to happen when I get LTE come tomorrow?!

All these postings and complains about the battery life and no response from Apple and yet all these articles online are BOASTING about the better battery life? I have an appointment at the genius bar on Thursday but I am literally days away from getting rid of this trash and moving onto S3 and never look back again..

I tried the same test as soulvision7

I ended up with usage 23 mim, standby 7 hours and battery life of 95%

Then I used the phone to check email and it dropped 3% in 10 min.

Then I made a phone call and:

1% per 3 min on a call, 6% gone in a 16 min call with apple support.

I'm now at 84%, that's 11% down in under 30 min.

Next step the full wipe and restore.

to update on where I stand and some usage stats I've been taking a look at:

charged phone to 100% yesterday evening. By the time I went to bed around 11 PM it was at 95% (not horrible battery drain, but that 5% still occured in about an hour of not doing anything with the phone)

Woke up at 6:30, phone had went from 95% to 74% just sitting there in standy all night NEVER had this issue with any of my 3 previous iPhone models I've had.

Once I arrived at work this morning at 7:30 my battery had drained down to 67% (20 minute ride to work, connected via Bluetooth to my car [but not using any phone or music via the BT, it was just connected])

Upon sitting at my desk, phone in my desk drawer from 7:30-9:30 the batter had drained down to 49%!!

I have full LTE coverage in all areas that these statistics occurred in. All apps have been killed and no excess things running.

Genius appointment today at 12:45, I plan to make them give me a new phone (although I'm fairly certain its a software issue at this point, a replacement should completely rule out a hardware dud though) or explain what the heck is going on, not that they can do this at this point...

Being able to get through my day (12-16 hours) on a whole charge is vital to me and has never been an issue... Please acknowledge this issue Apple!

Hello Guys,

Well as I had said before tried the "Trot Nixon" phones still doesn't seem to be holding excellent charge. I can be on the internet surfing for 10 min and watch the battery drop by 2-5%. Apple really needs to solve this problem as it is getting very frustrating not being able to survive a work day. We are paying for all of these "awesome" features why should we have to limit our selves by shutting off the features and what not. I never had this problem with any of my other iPhones. I don't feel I should limit my self now. Apple FIX THIS ISSUE!!!

I ran some tests yesterday.

First, I turned off all email push. I still lost 14% charge over an hour, so it's not my Exchange accounts.

I then signed out of Skype. That made a big difference: I lost only 6% over an hour.

Signing out of Facebook, turning off WiFi and Bluetooth, all made no difference: still losing charge at 6% per hour.

This morning, with email push turned off, Skype signed out, Facebook signed in, WiFi and Bluetooth on, I lost 10% over the course of three hours, or about 3% per hour.

I turned email push back on and lost about 10% per hour over the next four hours.

Something isn't right.

I was draining 20% of my battery in 30 minutes on my new iphone 5.

I restored my iphone 5 from the cloud originally, so the TROT NIXON method wasn't going to work for me. I DID try to turn safari syncing off and deleted podcasts (some were stuck downloading) and that pretty much fixed my issue. Still a problem though - Apple REALLY needs to release a fix.

I have 2 IPhone 5s and the battery life lasts me less then a day. I've tried the advice of reset the phone and all I got was better stand by time but the second I use the phone the battery drain is far greater than my IPhone 4.

So I have a genus appointment on tuesday, my wife and I are ready to go back to our IPhone 4 with working maps on IOS 5.1.

I had huge expectation of greatness, when I moved from IPhone 3 to my IPhone 4 I was so happy with my product, the screen, camra and battery life where leaps and bounds compaired to IPhone 3. Thus I had the same expectation for my new IPhone 5, but the camara does not seem much better, maps and youtube are effectivly gone, easy to scratch or dent, and bad battery.

With that the pluses are Siri, LTE, headphones and larger screen but that's not enough my phone must survive a day without a charge and I'm not getting that.
