iPhone 5 flash of camera does not work right

Remove screen protector from the back that should resolve the problem.

There is no screen protector on the back, so how does this resolve the problem?

I have the same issue. it is indeed frustrating that i have to restart my iPhone just to make it work. i hope apple fix it soon.

yeah my flash is messed up again and restarting the iphone does fix it for an unknown amount of time.

Got my new iphone 5 last week. Flash doesn't work for anything. No camera functions or flashlight apps. I reset all settings on phone and tried the power cycle to no avail. My wife's iphone 5 works great. She has the black 32gb and I have the black 64gb. Software has been updated on both phones. I will post any solutions I find.

I have had my iP5 since 9.21 and just noticed the flash/shutter issue this morning, while attempting to take some pictures indoors.

Just noticed the same problem: the flash is too quick and the pic it taken dark

Same problem here have to do a hard reboot and all is well

I don't know if this will help, but I sent an email to ask@engadget.com describing our problem - maybe they'll post something about the problem and Apple will acknowledge the problem?

Had the same issue on my first iPhone 5 (64gb) which I waiting 8 hours in line for that got replaced no questions asked, they didn't even test it. I just told them what was wrong and they gave me a new one, but today it happened again on the new one they gave me in a matter of two weeks which was about the same time I had the other one for. I'm pretty sure it's a firmware issue rather than hardware because hardware is most likely to fail completely and not work once it messes up but since by turning it off and on in most cases it fixes it for a little while I'm sure a simple firmware update would do us great. It has to be a mix of certain files or something thats messing things up because if it was just either hardware or just straight up iOS 6 issues it would happen to a lot more people and faster. To some it takes more than others so I don't know. I don't want to get a new one (AGAIN) syncing all my apps and 40 gbs of music takes too long.

Turning Off the localisation worked for me

Tried turning off localisation. Still didn't work. Flash still out of sync. iPhone 5 64GB. bought in Hong Kong

Had the same issue with my black 32gb iPhone5 with the flash going off too early resulting in black photos. Found a solution that's resolved it for me. Downloaded the 'Camera+' app and its fixed it (even on the original stock Camera app). Well worth the 69p. No need to reset your iPhone. Just download, install and use the app.

As I said it fixes the problem even in the stock apple camera app.

Well it genuinely worked for me. I was Googling the problem to see what fixes people were coming up with. Didn't want to reset my phone and read a post on another forum about this app and thought I'd try it. Like I said its fixed it for me, so thought it may fix it for others.

I've got nothing to do with the aforementioned app, but even if I did I can hardly imagine sales figures rocketing as a result of my 'marketing strategy' (ie my post)!
