iPhone 5 flash of camera does not work right

It will probably come back it generally does, hopefully there will be a real fix for this in the next software update to iOS 6

Reboot is just a temporary solution whereas disabling location services does the trick permanently. Can you imagine saying "oh, hold on that pose lads I just need to reboot my iPhone!". ***** ;)

I was able to fix my out of sync flash by going into settings, privacy, location services....and turning it off on Camera app.

I think it maybe an firmware issue and should be fixed thru an update

Restored my phone ,,, working fine at the mo it's been 5 hours. Hope it's doesn't reoccur later or tmro

Yes mate, disable location services for camera and you'll be fine :)

This issue just stops happening after awhile without disabling location services. I did reboot to fix it in the past.

I am going to try your suggestion. So I first Reset All Setting.

Then, I should go to ICould>Storage and Backup?

A friend of mine bought a new iphone 5 just now. We tried to test some of its features like camera, wifi ... without inserting a sim card. We found that Iphone 5 camera is not working without inserting a sim card. Is it essential to insert a sim card for the camera to start?

VMAn1982, thank you for sharing. This resolved the issue of my camera flash not working. It was worth the $0.99. I did not want to take my phone to Verizon and get a replacement. Think of all the hassle that involves!

I thought I had this problem too. All of the reported symptoms matched. A dark room is flooded with light, but when you snap the picture and see it captured on the LED, it is too dim to see anything. HOWEVER, when I loaded these into iTunes, all 3 test photos had perfect tone and color balance with almost a daylight appearance.

Just guessing the bright initial light is only to help in composing the shot, the camera does the rest with a dim secondary flash, and I'm just not sure why the LED makes it look like the shot was a fail when in fact it is a perfectly ordinary good image.
