iPhone 5 time and date issues

So, I activated my vzw iPhone5 Saturday. Very much enjoying it. Woke up yesterday and was very confused because my phone thought it was 8/26/12 and 30 minutes later than the actual time. I reset network settings and it self resolved...until this morning. I woke up and looked at my phone and had a melt down because my alarm never went off. I hurriedly got ready and looked at the microwave as I ran out, and it was 30 minutes earlier than my iPhone said.

My iPhone apparently is doing something weird and reverting to 8/26/12 + 30 minutes while I (and it) sleep. It throws off iMessage and I'm sure the rest of the date/time dependent apps, so I've turned off the automatic time setting for now, and its fine now (so far lol). But I would like to know what the real issue is if possible!?! Is it my phone? VZW? Does it matter?

Thanks in advance :0)

LTE has been on since I activated the phone on 10/04/12. The time screws up between the times of 7am-8:45am every morning. I first noticed it happening on either 10/7 or 10/8. I am located in Los Angeles County. I just put it on AIRPLANE MODE for 5 seconds then turn it off to reset the time back to normal.

Someone recommended turning LTE off until the problem is fixed, but I haven't tried it yet. I just made sure I had my regular alarm clock waking me up for work now. Hope this is fixed soon though.

I have the iphone5, black, 32gb

This has been a problem since I have had the 5 as well. I work in L.A. County and live in Ventura County so my phone switches between 3G and LTE several times a day. I am also on vzw. I usually turn the Set Automatcally to Off and then back on and it will fix it. There have been a few times that I have had to turn my phone off and then on again to reset it.

When I first started having the problem, there weren't any postings on the issue and I thought it was just me having problems (my wife is on a 4 and she doesn't have the problem) and I have been just dealing with it because it wasn't happening more than once every couple of weeks. I am glad to hear that there were enough problems for vzw to take a look at the issue.

Next time, I will try airplane mode and see what happens.

Thanks for the postings. iPhone 5, 32Gb, Black, on the Share Everything plan (if that matters).

Same problem here with the iPhone 5 64gb. Verizon in Western NC. I also live in one of those areas where I flip between 3G and LTE. This is a Verizon LTE problem. Date and Time reverts back to August 27th, at some odd time. Called Verizon and they said they had a "Master Ticket" open that their engineers were working on. She gave me a ticket and "attached" my ticket to the "Master Ticket" and said they would follow up with me on the solution. I asked her what the master ticket was... and she said she couldn't see the master ticket but that they were "alerted" to this problem on 10/5. Furthermore, she said that this issue was effecting other phones besides the iPhone 5... so I don't think this is an Apple problem.

Verizon Customers UNITE! Call Verizon and tell them to fix it.. we are paying for it after all!

I don't know what has changed but I have not experienced any more problem with this in 3 days. Been on octal automatic, been driving all over town, etc. and paying attention to the time. So far, no more problems.

I wonder if this is something that gets fixed in certain areas at a time? Didn't someone post earlier that Verizon had acknowledged the problem as theirs?

I live outside of Portland, Oregon and have traveled both east and south of the city.

Wanted to add another confirmation of the issue! I don't know if the date changes for me, but the time goes backwards about ten minutes. Just enough to make me late for work and appointments, so it's really irritating. I noticed it has only happened first thing in the morning, after the phone has been on the charger all night (not connected to computer), the time changes after I turn off or snooze my alarm. For example, I got up at 6am this morning when my iPhone alarm went off... I looked at the phone a little later and it only said 6:11, but I knew I had been out of bed longer than eleven minutes. Real time after rebooting was 6:23. I also don't get my reminders. I turn the phone off, then back on, and the time rights itself after a few seconds.

Try going and downgrading to iOS 5. which is possible. See if that works if not upgrade back to iOS 6.0 and wait. It is infact a Verizon Wireless Inc. problem. It includes 4G and 3G network connections. iOS 6.1 might help when it is relesed if it brought among Apples attention. I am in Pennsylvania. But it is definatly a Verizon issue that Apple can HELP fix. It is also happening with Verizon Androids. It's a Veriozn problem.

Another date and time issue here... usually when I try to reply to a text message. I get a pop-up screen that says the message can't be sent because of the date and time and that I need to reset date and time. It has done this four or five times and continuously resets back to Sept 28, 2012 - different times of the morning. It's kind of annoying.

People of iPhone world. It's confirmed. It's a 3G to LTE issue. It's also happening on droid phones. That being said you can easily say its a Verizon issue but I really do not care. Just fix it. A restore I'd not going to help squat. Overall I really enjoy having Verizon but c mon. Who would have missed such an obvious error in testing. They theory is having some experience with this is I believe Verizon had a pretty big rollout of LTE right around the iphone5 launch but still this seems like an obvious test issue. Oh we'll. please whomever fix soon.

Sorry I just read it again I now understand you have 13.1. Sorry I am out of it today a little. Please apply the carrier update. It might fix it. It is a 3G and 4G connection/Network problem that Verizon has configured wrong and they are trying to fix it. Me followed by probably all of you guys and many others had brought it to Verizon's attention. I dot think the carrier update fixes it but I would update it anyway. I don't see a fix coming out for another week or two. Maybe more. Hoping earlier but they have to do what they have to do.

After talking (read: pushing) to verizon tech support this morning a tier 2 tech was able to find a "master ticket" that talked about the date/time issue. She explained that the ticket had been closed on the 5th. She went on to dig a bit deeper and found other tickets (apparently of individuals as opposed to some master ticket) that were later than the 5th stating that they were still experiencing the date/time foul ups.

One thing that would have vastly helped my calls this morning would have been a ticket that could have been referenced for Verizon's sake. I've looked and I thought that a ticket reference had been posted, I haven't been able to find one though.

IF you're still having troubles with your date/time. Please reference my verizon ticket number, in the notes of that ticket another ticket is referenced. The verizon tech you speak to may create a new ticket to give you, but they SHOULD link that ticket to mine, or the one mine is linked to. This will substantiate the fact that the issue is still ongoing and still needs to be addressed. Or if the issue truely has been resolved you may find out that there is something else going on with your phone and will be able to get to resolution faster.

My Verizon ticket # is: 5706763
