iPhone 5 time and date issues

The only problem with that is that there is only a 30-day window for returns with Apple, I do not need a $400 paperweight if they cannot figure it out and today is day 30! It is unfortunate but it appears apple is going the way of all the other techno companies since the passing of Jobs, new releases every 3-6 months without any longevity to the line and only incremental improvements. Remember when an apple product was current for 2+ years and held its value even when the next one came out? Check the value of the iPad 2s which are just now a year old.... If I am going to get hit on resale or trade-in value I am going to have to start buying toys from a company that does not have such a high premium built into their pricing!!!! What a shame because the vision and behavior under Jobs was admirable from the consumer standpoint and satiated the stockholder's needs; with this new approach you will see apple sales plateau and likely start to decline if they cannot instill some value back into the brand. All that said, to their credit the return process was very easy and the folks I spoke with were incredibly understanting and compassionate. I sincerely hope Apple gets it figure out.

It's been about a week since I've had the problem, too. I am still turning LTE off at night just to make sure I have a reliable alarm to wake me up for work, but if I can go a couple more weeks without it switching, then I might just leave it on.

Sorry to others who are still having this problem. Hopefully I won't be back here tomorrow eating my words.

No time/date shift in Los Angeles in 24 hours. I live in the San Fernando Valley and have transitioned from Wifi to 3G to LTE several times with no changes to the correct time (in auto set mode).

Has Verizon fixed it here? No new updates have been sent to my phone.

Cautiously hopeful.

I've never had an issue before today, and three instances this afternoon/evening. My wife has noticed this problem for about 10 days.

I wear a watch, but she is considering reverting back to her iPhone 4.

It's been four days now since I've had an issue with the time/date shift here in Charlotte, NC. I'm haven't had to use my phone as an alarm for a few days now and left LTE on all day and night and switched out of LTE to 3G and back multiple times between home and work and haven't had an issue so far. Maybe Verizon is slowly correcting this issue. Keep calling and complaining if you have the issue so they know to check the towers in your area for problems. I called them everyday for a week straight.

I just spoke with Verizon Tier 2 technical support.

She acknowledged the master ticket from October 1st, and appended my trouble ticket to the master one. She said that the date/time problem is described in the master ticket as affecting "all Verizon iPhone 5's," and that Verizon is working with Apple on the problem. She said that typically a trouble ticket would be resolved in a couple of days, but that would not be the case here, and she had no prediction as to when it would be resolved.

We could be in this one for a while.

I'm something of an Apple fanboi, but I have to say that I'm losing faith/patience with the Cupertino gang. Between this and Mountain Lion having killed 50% of my battery life until 10.8.2 and a completely clean install, I'm beginning to think that they may have lost a material part of their technical recipe.

I placed my call about two weeks ago with Verizon and the tech was very thorough in asking me about exact locations where I noticed the problem occurring. He even asked for major intersection near my house so he could find the exact tower. Since then, it has not happened! Perhaps when you call you could reference this situation???

This discussion has been very quite the past 2 days... Is everyone fixed?!?! Mine sure is not! Yesterday was the worst day yet. I kept my phone on LTE all day Monday and it changed time/date 6 times in 8 hours. I have had my phone on 3G all day today, I just switched in back to LTE now, so nothing to report yet today...

Call everytime it happens when it happens. I know it sounds outragous to do and may not be possible if your busy working or something else. I called everyday for a week and complained. I haven't had a problem with my time/date switching in almost a week now. I don't think everyone is fixed yet but calling and bugging the **** out of them on a daily basis is key I believe to getting your area fixed quicker (and credit to your account 🙂)

I haven't had an issue in several days (Hickory, NC area), since around 10/20 to be precise. Will note that I travelled to Nashville, TN last week and NEVER experienced a date time issue at all even crossing from EST to CST and back. Even going through the mountain vallelys where I regularly changed from LTE to 3G (I left my LTE on even though others suggested turning it off as solution), I never experienced a problem. Have been back in Hickory, NC area for several days and have not had an issue yet. I'm not convinced it is resolved yet, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Well, after not having the time/date bug for the last 8 days, it just hit me again today at work. It reset to October 28th at 12:09 p.m. I got it reset quickly by disabling and re-enabling LTE. I called Verizon to check on my trouble ticket from October 22 and they said they are working diligently with Apple to fix this issue "that is unique to the Apple iPhone 5 and iOS 6." They are still putting the blame on Apple. Whatever. I don't care who is to blame - lets just get it fixed already!

After being glitch-free for three straight days, my time/date reset into the past yesterday.

I've gone back to SET MANUAL for now.

Strange that the shift is so sporatic after having been quite regular.

It's way more than a week now since I had the problem last. I doubt it makes any difference but I did also turn off Bluetooth which was on ever since I got the phone. I also have the time set to manual. No idea if all of that is just a coincidence or what but I've had LTE on constantly with no problems since early October.

OK, so what I can gather is the following:

- The issue is not related to the iPhone 5 specifically as we have reports that this also happens on Samdung phones as well so this makes it a VZW issue, not an Apple issue necessarily, unless both Samdung and Apple are using the same LTE chipsets and making the same mistakes

- The two ways to fix it are, 1. Turning off LTE and, 2. Setting Date and Time to Manual

What I have noticed in my situation is that the Date/Time shift occurs when LTE is an inconsistent signal. I work an hour away from home. My home town (Roseville, CA) has very good LTE coverage and I have never seen the shift occur there.

My office is in Grass Valley, CA where coverage, in general, is not the best. There is LTE here but it's sporadic and the phone switches to 3G fairly consistently and even in many cases drops connection dependng on where I am in my office building. When I am in Grass Valley I lose correct Date and Time and I find out that it's gone when I recieve an iMessage/text. I've seen the Date and time go away, move to another part of my office building where I can get get good LTE (like next to a window or even outside) and the Date and Time come back and are correct.

My workaround is to turn off automatic time and just set the date and time on the phone manually. Then all my stuff works, calendars, alarms, texts, etc... with no issues.

A co-worker has the iPhone 5 on VZW as well and he lives here, he has a problem with correct Date and Time going away also and all the time. I told hime to set it to Manual and he's been happy.

The bigger issue is that my company is looking to switch from AT&T to VZW becasue VZW's coverage here is far superior. They refuse to switch until this issue is addressed satifictorily. This is easily 30-50 handsets, possibly more, and typically they buy iPhones.

Have gone two entire days without an issue. Maybe fixed. I am sorry for all the Apple fanboys but this is more an apple issue. I have two ipads on lte. One I keep constantly with me. It has been updated to the new ios6. It has never lost the time once. I can have the Ipad and the Iphone sitting next to each other and watch the phone change and the ipad stay the same. This is a design issue with having only one antennae in the Iphone. The iphone has to do more than the ipad. Apple went cheap that why we still cant do multiple things at the same time. My guess is that Verizon has managed a way to enhance the lte signal to obercome the iphone flaw.

I also can have full lte signal on my ipad and only 3g on the Iphone. while they are sitting next to each other. I have three Iphones and four ipads.

My previous phone was a 2 year old droid x. Since I was in the apple ecosystem I decide to switch over. Other than a pretty screen the iphone os is vastly inferior to my old droid. And the synergy with the ipads is not needed. The google system was better.

I am gonna take a hard look at all the competitors products. This is ridiculous.

Sorry Apple I am siding with Verizon on this one. Your product is no better than my two year old droid.
