iphone 5 no sound

HI all, I have had my new iPhone 5 now since Friday, its all been ok but a couple of times now it loses the ability to make any souns, things like when click the top right button to switch it off it used to make a 'swoosh' sound, thats has stopped, also when I get an email the phone usually makes a sound, that has stopped....and finally when I usually get a call the phone obviously rings, that has also stopped a few times and it just vibrates.

I definately dont have the phoen muted in any way, the left hand switch on the side of the phone is not set to mute or anything, and when I switch the phone off and then on again sound is restored, any idea's, asume this is either a hardware or software issue, help !!!!!!

I had the same problem. I'd turn the iPhone 5 to vibrate only, turn it back on to sound and still no sound. I'm pretty sure that its software because I just updated to the latest iOS, 6.1.2, and I don't have the issue anymore.

I had no sound for anything including phone, messages, music. I bought my Iphone5 from AT&T a month ago, January 2013. Took it to AT&T and they said it was stuck on vibrate and I needed to take it to the local Apple store and it would probably be replaced. I made an appointment, but decided to look here online for solutions.

I went to the http://iphonenosound.com website recommended by smurf235. I tried the iphone no sound, Step 6, and inserted the headphones in & out of the headphone jack a few times. This solved my problem. Thank you for sharing your solutions.

M having problem is well I captured 2 videos on my iPhone 5 but when I play it I don't get sound at all and that is annoyed me lot please help

I have tried everything suggested on this post and everything on http://iphonenosound.com except the jailbreak since that apparently isn't available for IOS 6. Any other suggestions??

This was my exact problem, i found it out only after i restored phone to factory settings! Luckly i had my stuff backed up

This one worked for me. I have a lifeproof fre case on my phone and didn't realize what that button above the volume control was (never had an iPhone before). I tried pushing it in and it didn't work but figured out you need to switch it up or down. I know this is really newbie stuff, but it tried going into settings and changing all different things before checking the forums and this worked so I thought I'd share and say thanks.

I had same issue with Iphone5..

this happened me when I changed icloud storage plan.

in conclusion :

its an IOS 6.1.4 bug for iphone5..

and need a fix.

maybe, upgrading to 6.1.5 would be good.

I really dont wantto use IOS7.Its still beta.

its not a user related problem.

My Temporal Solution :

no need to restore.Just Hard Restart fixes this issue.

Home+Lock button to shutdown and Home Button to restart it fixes this rare problem.
