iPhone 5 bad call voice quality

Got the new iPhone 5 and have bad phone call quality. The recipient of the call seems to be able to hear me ok, but their voice either isn't there or drops out or sounds grainy like when you have bad cell reception. Many times, the calls have just not connected. I know that that my cell reception and the recipients cell reception were excellent. This has occured when calling other cell phones, land lines, and toll free numbers. Anyone else having this issue? Have an appointment at Apple tomorrow morning to see what they think.

Same problem here in Bristol on the Vodafone network, I have changed my iPhone 5 four times now, the first three times apple called it a one off and blamed my provider, the last time they said they are well aware of the problem and it was unlikely to be fixed as its a hardware issue, great for our five business phones!

Obviously after over 200 posts on Apples own website forum, which they MUST be monitoring daily, I would expect a comment of some sort...the silence just suggests no solution will be coming available.

I have contacted BBC Watchdog today who are VERY interested in both this problem and also Apples poor response to the issue, they will be looking for more cases so speak up people!

I previously posted that I returned my Verizon iPhone 5 due to the bad voice quality that Verizon and Apple could not resolve, and reactivated my ATT iPhone 3GS while I waited for delivery of an iPhone 5 from ATT. I have been using the ATT iPhone 5 for a week now, and I have good voice quality, similar to the ATT iPhone 3GS (the previous robotic voice issue on the Verizon iPhone 5 is now gone). Note that I have some voice quality issue using my existing Bluetooth headset with the new iPhone 5, but it sounds good WITHOUT the Bluetooth headset.

Went to Apple store, "genius" said I needed to reset and restore iPhone before they could do anything. Did that this morning, first few calls after restore have been fine. Before reset, I noticed that the robotic dropout calls only typically happened when I received incoming calls, and only some of the time. So far so good.

I can.t hear the person on the other end of the call and they can't hear me unless I turn on the speaker. Is this a setting problem, carrier problem or a bad phone?

I am using Mobilink Carrier in Karachi-Paistan on a newly procured iPhone 5 with 64GB. Earlier, I was using iPhone 4 but there was no such problem. However, I will contact my carrier for the issue and/or may shift from current Service Provider to another Service Problem most probably Ufone Pakistan.

Can someone help me in this issue?

As the reporter (www.sddt.com/phil) who began this thread, here's what I have learned from a very reliable inside industry source regarding call quality using a Bluetooth headset,

Apple engineers never adequately tested their new iPhone 5 with Bluetooth headsets, and Bluetooth headsets from a number of companies perform poorly, experiencing dropout, robotic sounding conversations and other anomalies. A software upgrade to the headsets will make a big improvement, but Apple engineers are still working on further improvements to the phone itself, that likely will result in a software fix. I’m told this is a consequence of Apple’s ultra-high secrecy that prevents their phones from being more widely tested before being released. So this refers just to headphone use. When others post their problems, specify if you are using the phone directly or through a BT headset.

Guys

whoever has this problem with bad call quality in whatever form actual phone, bluetooth , speaker please understand this

IT IS 100% a HARDWARE ISSUE

Go to the nearest apple store or contact the carrier and insist on a replacement. Please insist on this

I did and got a new phone and have zero problems with the new unit.

If you get a bad replacement please go and replace it AGAIN until your problem is solved.

We are a very very few of us with this problem.
