iPhone 5 Bluetooth issues with car

My iPhone 5 is having issues with Bluetooth and my car. It pairs with no problem and I can make calls with no problem. If my phone rings and I try to answer it with the car Bluetooth controls the call picks up then immediately goes back to listening to the radio... But the call is still connected and the phone thinks its still connected to "my car". So I need to quickly pick up the handset and switch the source to phone or the other person will hang up. If it helps the car is a 2010 Infiniti. Any ideas? I already tried re-pairing it. I also tried resetting the network settings.

Thanks in advance

No worries. 🙂 If you couldn't connect at all I was going to post some general troubleshooting links. I left a voice mail with my Honda sales guy to see if they have an update for the update for the CR-V (I just bought one, too). He mentioned Bluetooth issues with the iPhone 5 but we didn't discuss in detail.

I think you are on the money here Katchman (and PNutts), I've just put my iPhone 5 very close to the radio/multi media unit and it answers call perfectly! Luckily on the Navara there's a shelf right underneath the radio, this seems to fix both mine and my business partners issues with the iPhone 5 and Nissan Navara blue tooth answerring issue.... worth others trying the same?

Just received the following e-mail from Infiniti

Thank you for contacting Infiniti and allowing us the opportunity to be of assistance. We are sorry to hear about the iPhone 5 connectivity concerns that you are currently experiencing.

You may experience the following:
1) Answer incoming call. Call connects. Caller can hear me but you cannot hear the caller.
2) Answer incoming call. Call connects. You cannot hear the caller and the caller cannot hear you.

Your Infiniti retailer will be provided with a software update to correct the concerns described above (in vehicles with navigation) by the end of the month of January. Please contact your Infiniti dealership for an appointment to have the software update performed on your vehicle.

If you have any additional concerns or comments, please feel free to send us another e-mail or contact our Consumer Affairs department directly at 1-800-662-6200 (Option 7).

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to be of service.

Sincerely,

I contacted Nissan Bluetooth Support regarding the same issue everyone is describing for my 2013 Pathfinder with Navigation. The rep seemed to know about the issue and claimed an update was being sent to the dealers next week and that I should contact my dealer to upgrade the software/firmware on the radio. This goes along with what was posted above with the Infinity dealer (since Infinity/Nissan are the same manufacturer).

Iphone 5 Bluetooth Connection to Subaru Audio and Phone.

From phone settings menu, if you pair your phone to the car you will only connect the phone and the audio will not work.

To connect both. Goto settings and find audio bluetooth connection menu. pair your phone here and will get both audio and phone working.

I think i have a slightly different issue, and wondering if anyone else is having the same experience. Both my husband and I switched to new cars (13 Pathfinder and 12 Exporer) in the last couple of months, and both switched to iphone 5s soon after. With our previous android phones in the new cars, bluetooth sounded great. Now neither of us have any issue pairing or the basic functions of bluetooth (connecting, answering calls), but in both cars our audio (out) is complete garbage on the other end now that we are using iphone 5s. We sound like we are driving with all the windows down to the person on the other end. Interested if others are seeing this or seen a response from Apple.

I just bought a 2013 Pathfinder (Platinum) and am also having problems with my iphone 5. I was wondering if you have had any luck getting your issues resolved? My problems are:

1. Won't take incoming calls unless I answer it on the iphone 5 and then switch audio to my car

2. My access to "handset phonebook" is hit and miss.

3. Sometimes I can't even access Bluetooth settings on the nav screen if the phone is connected (seems to especially happen when iphone is connected as an audio source)

I emailed Nissan and they told me to upgrade to ios 6.0.1 to resolve the problem. I'm already on 6.0.2 so I don't believe that's the issue and neiter does Apple. The dealer says that Nissan is waiting on Apple........
