Q: iPhone 5 Bluetooth issues with car

My iPhone 5 is having issues with Bluetooth and my car.  It pairs with no problem and I can make calls with no problem.  If my phone rings and I try to answer it with the car Bluetooth controls the call picks up then immediately goes back to listening to the radio... But the call is still connected and the phone thinks its still connected to "my car".  So I need to quickly pick up the handset and switch the source to phone or the other person will hang up.  If it helps the car is a 2010 Infiniti.   Any ideas?  I already tried re-pairing it.  I also tried resetting the network settings.

Thanks in advance

6.1 is not out yet.  6.01 is out.

I sure hope 6.1 whenever it is available fixes this but after talking to Apple they appear clueless so I won't hold my breath.  Paulie I hope you are correct.

My apologies. You are totally correct. I have 6.0.1. Will keep my fingers crossed for 6.1. Thank you

I took my 08 Audi A6 in today for the 35k/mile service.  I asked the service technician and they are well aware of the problem but had no idea if Audi was going to be able to fix the problem through their software or if Apple was going to need to rectify it on their end.

For my car, it works 50/50 assuming I don't have my streaming bluetooth paired.  If I have it paired the phone is garbled (you can still understand) but it sounds awful.  If I disconnect the pairing of the audio streaming it works 99% of the time.  There are many times I get in the car and it won't pair at all.  Frustrating to say the least.

Same issue with iPhone 5 and Citroen DS3. Car can see phone and phone can see car but they refuse to pair. Worked flawlessly with 4S.

I own 2 cars made by Infiniti. 2011 QX56 and 2012 M37, both with NAV. I have used and also my wife still uses iPhone 4S (OS 6.0.1) with no problem in regards to bluetooth issue. When I got my iPhone 5 (OS 6.0.1) the problem started. Incoming calls are switched to iPhone 5 as source (does not matter how I accept incoming call) and these incoming calls are muted both ways recipient/caller. As suggested previously, I tried to change name on iPhone 5, delete bluetooth users and reconnect. It does work temporary. But when you restart car engine, problem resurface again. The only "fix" working in my case is (as suggested previously) to use "source" on iPhone 5 to switch back to my car (as source) after accepting incoming call. Then the recipient/caller is heard over car bluetooth speakers system with no problem. iPhone 5 has issue.

It seems that Honda has completed testing of the iPhone 5 and now has the phone listed on their HandsFreeLink website as "Not Compatible" with the reason "Due to the phone software, incoming calls will be received at random occurances on the Hands-Free system.  We have communicated these issues to the device manufacturer.  Please check back for updates."

So Honda is throwing it back into Apple's court.

The good news is that (at least with the first two betas) iOS 6.1 fixes the HandsFreeLink issues with at least the 2012 Honda CR-V.

I'm in the same boat 2012 QX56, it is intermittent at best, the only option is to try and answer and when the music comes back on quickly swap between phone and my-car.

Inifiniti do not even have the 4s or the 5 in testing at the moment according to their website, I think 6.1 may well be the Messiah, I do hope so, my car is 1 month old and this is bugging the **** out of me.

I can confirm that iOS 6.1 beta 2 (but not 6.0.1) also fixes the incoming call issue on a 2013 Infiniti G37x w/Nav.

Also at least partially seems to fix the intermitant problem I have with BT Audio not displaying track info and not responsing to steering wheel controls.  Seems, after limited testing (it is intermittent, so hard to figure out), to fix the latter, but not the former.

I realize we may not be able to get an exact release date of 6.1, but can anyone give us a rough idea of when we can be expecting 6.1 to be released?  By the end of the year, early in 2013, mid 2013?  Thanks!

I know you didn't reply to me, but I'll throw my best estimate out there.  I'd say by Christmas.

I have 6.1 (beta 10B5105C) installed on my iPhone and it doesn't work with Peugeot 508 SW.

I'm getting sick and tired of all these problems with iPhone. I need my phone to work in my car!!!
