When I was buying it in an American Apple Store the salesperson said that it will work fine with European, Russian and any other sim-cards. But in practice I have problems with sending SMS (voice calls, 3G and receiving messages work perfectly). Perhaps I should change the number of SMS center? Is there any way to do it?

Buddies! Tomorrow there is an Apple event where probably will bring a new device and changes to iBooks. Apparently a new iOS version (6.0.1) will be announced too, that must fix some known bugs. Our 'bug', I hope, must be fixed by this version.

Guys, hold on... Announcing new version of iOS doesn't mean it will be available for update immediately...I heard they are still testing the new version with various carriers in the US.
and even they release the update soon it doesn't mean that this particular bug is part of the list ... without official announcement ...
come on guys, show a bit of hope and remain optimistic :-)

AnuWorld India Connecting to 3G was never an issue. Which city are you from and which carrier are you using?
yeah same here i dont seem to have any issue about connecting to 3G.....
have you checked if you have enabled your 3G or is it off?

Enable 3G is it on or off, if it is off then just turn it on and you should be able to connect to 3G!

My carrier is Tata Docomo and my 3g is enabled with correct APN settings...
well thats strange, coz thats the first of its kind, i have been doing a lot of research trying to do a work around on this sms issue, but cant recollect anyone having a 3G issue....
i use vodoafone and its seems to have some great 3G network....i cant comment much on your network on tata docomo...coz 3G networks tend to be week in areas....
have you tried calling tata docomo and checking if indeed your 3G has been activated, its stupid question, but the last time when i activated 3G, it wouldnt connect and when i called vodafone they said that no such request has been received from my end to activate 3G, however once i did reconfirm they gave me a request number and withing an hour the 3G was activated!
I have confirmed everything and i have an active 3G plan... I even changed my sim card yesterday but still no luck... neither with sms nor with 3G...
m really sorry anu but regarding the sim card, yes even i was told by vodafone that the sim could be cut wrongly so change the sim and sms should work, however inspite chaging the sim, my sms feature wldnt work, but the 3G is something that beats me.

Settings > Safari > Use Cellular Data > Turn on
