iPhone 5 bought in the USA does not send text messages in Russian networks

When I was buying it in an American Apple Store the salesperson said that it will work fine with European, Russian and any other sim-cards. But in practice I have problems with sending SMS (voice calls, 3G and receiving messages work perfectly). Perhaps I should change the number of SMS center? Is there any way to do it?

have you tried restoring your phone? i guess that could be your last bet, it wont yet be able to send sms's but if you are lucky you may just be able to get your 3G back in action...other option is also to try and see if you have a friends who uses vodafone with an iphone 5 and try inserting a that sim to see if you can catch the 3G network, i can vouch for vodafone as i use the same and i dont seem to have any issues with 3G......

Hey Guys, I want to brief you all about the support case that i have opened with Apple. I got an email today stating Sprint iPhone 5 is desined to work with Sprint as a carrier in the US. He also mentioned that some functionalities may be limited to Sprint's use only. He gave me the workaround "Show Subject field" and no word about if this issue is gonna be fixed permanently. Here is a shocker....How many of you have tried using iMessage and FaceTime? Don't even bother to try using it as these two fall into the SMS issue and will not work on Sprint iPhones 😟

the show subject field applies to MMS so that is a work around of sorts, howevver MMS costs are far hugher.....

my iphone cant use imessaging as it needs to send an SMS on start up for activation, therefore in our case or cases imessaging definitely wont work, however in the case of face time, it works just fine......

could you kindly advise how did you open a support case with apple?

i tried by sending a mail to Tim Cook and got a survey mail today, did you get any such mail since your purchase?

I am a reseller of Apple devices and I got a small batch of Sprint phones unlocked for international use. Out of those 12 phones about 3 or 4 came with this SMS issue. However, other devices I personally tested were able to send and receive SMS no problem. As of right now I have a case being worked on. Apple contacted me after they read a message I sent to the big players. After about 2 days of my email they contacted me and told me to do some testing on the device which didn't fix the issue. After that they made me install the iPhone configuration utility on my Mac so I could send them the error logs when I attempted to send SMS from my phone. They said they'd reach up to me in a little while because the Engineering Dept. had to check those logs and see of they could figure something out.

I think this is an issue that's currently being worked on. It surprised me Apple told someone here that this problem is an intended limitation on Sprint phones. It even scares me a **** of a lot because I have to answer to my customers about this. The only way for us to change this is by bombing the emails of the big players so they can work something out for us.

Use the emails above and use email subjects with uppercase and exclamation signs and such.. They receive tons of emails and they will just mix them up with the rest if we don't distinguish ourselves from the rest.
