WebDAV bugs with ML

Same thing here (OSX 10.8.2), folders containing accented characters are not accessible through finder GUI. Same issue using terminal : you can list folders on the webdav folder but you cannot change directory if it contains an accented character.

My WebDav folders are hosted on a Synology NAS

I haven't checked my ability to move around on the mounted drive in a terminal window. Copying files is where I have my problems. Files and directories seem to copy(Drag-and-drop or copy and paste) okay. But when I look at the files, they are all 0K. I am not mounted via HTTPS, just HTTP.

I use the foreign characters å,ä and ö. They confuses the Finder/WebDav in a big way. Folders containing these disappear and files are not recognized... It seem to work in the Terminal so my results is a bit different than O.P.s.

I hope they can fix this soon. I don’t feel like converting everything I have into English or dropping all “dots”

Big dissapointment! 10.8.3 did not adress the problem... Is Apple even aware that it is a problem? I have tried to report this as a bug. Hope they will fix it.

Im mounting the shares using VPN and that works 🙂

Use the URL bugreporter.apple.com. You have to register as a developer but that was easy. Filling it in is another matter.

I already opened a bug on this topic very very long time ago (Nov-2012) it's bug ID 12758168 (OSX 10.8.2 cannot access WebDav folder containing accented characters).

I'm not even sure that engineering has reviewed it...

It depends on the settings and hardware of your keyboard: in some country keyboards there are characters that do not generate character when you set another keyboard in Languages&Text/Input sources.

For example in the hardware Swiss German keyboard the @ character is on the G key and typed by holding the Alt key. When set to some other country keyboard this character is NOT remapped.

I do not have the solution (yet) on how to remap such keys.

May be you should read again the initial post and answers... we are talking about WebDAV, not keyboards... :-)

It is the not recognized characters in the files that disappear!

No, the whole folder or file disapears from the finder when you try to select it. It displays when you open the parent folder but as said, as soon as you select it it disapears into thin air.

I don't think this has anything to do with the keyboard. I have tried it with different langages and locales... but could not see any difference.

On your server (a synology NAS for me) : create a folder that contains an accented character (ex : èéëüñ...) then share it via WebDAV

on your client (10.8.x) : try to access this folder -> you will notice the issue

Same test but with a Linux or Windows client : no issue. It is an osx bug.

Nothing related to keyboards or locale.

yes I see the same, even with the "recognized" accented characters, you are right, it is not only the non existent characters of some locale.
