My iphone 5 sounds are low etc... lock sounds, tones?

Whenever i slide to unlock or lock the sounds are low, I have my volume all the way up and the sounds are very low still.

Also my text message tones etc.. are low on sound a little. Does anybody have the same problem?

iPhone 5, iOS 6

Yes, I have the same exact problem. The sounds are overall much lower than my iPhone 4. I have no way of confirming this as an iOS 6 issue or an iPhone 5 issue because I sold the iPhone 4 and this one shipped with iOS 6!

Though the low sounds bother me, the worst is the low volume of the text message "Tri-tone" during a phone call. It's unacceptable and I hope that more people see this and read it, because we aren't imagining this.

This technique didn't do anything for me, as I had already tried that before hitting up the forums. So, the OP claims it worked for them. That's wonderful, but that still leaves us without resolution. Well, I'm going to say that it is completely software related and that the next update will hopefully address this. On the bright side, we don't have the "death-grip" or the scuffing issues others are! Just keep bringing this to their attention and perhaps it will be included and addressed in a future update.

I have read on a few other forums that this is definitely a common issue and has to be software related. I've read other possible solutions as going to the sounds settings and moving the volume bar up and down, or going into the music app and finding that volume level to be low and raising it fixed it.

There's definitely a glitch somewhere, and hopefully it's addressed soon! Sorry the hard reset didn't work for you but yes I agree our issues could be worse!

This discussion board should merge with this one: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4329212?start=15&tstart=0

Essentially, we now have iPhone 4 users running iOS 6 and experiencing the same problems:

  • Low volume/alert/ringer sounds
  • Text message sound during a call is extremely low
  • The volume of the music player acts as a global control for all sounds, excluding the ringer

So, we can definitively theorize that it is inherent to the new OS. What more can we do to reach out to Apple and alert them to this issue?

Just to get some things out of the way, the following "works" for some but not all:

  • Reset All Settings
  • Hard Reset

Siri only makes this more complicated, as the issue seems to be a direct tie-in to the music player's volume with one exception- at full volume the text sound during a call is still very low. While I'm glad that I didn't receive a scuffed iPhone 5, this cannot go on any longer and 6.0.1 better resolve this issue. Anyone up for personally writing Tim Cook? I'll do it right now!

Please don't hold down Sleep/Wake and Home. That yanks the power without a proper shutdown. You can corrupt things/lose data. Don't do it! Just hold down the Sleep/Wake switch on top, then slide to power off. This will shut the phone down the proper way.

A restart will temporarily correct the alert volume issue, but only until you use Siri or turn-by-turn directions with voice. Then, it will trigger the bug again.

You can just go into Music and turn up the volume, which will also raise the volume of the alerts, and you don't have to restart.

This is an annoying bug. Apple needs to fix it with an iOS update.

I had this problem as well. My solution was that I noticed that when I was using an app I would turn the volume down and noticed that my sound didn't work when I exited the app. To fix the sound issue just open up an app and turn the volume back up all the way. The no sound is fixed without rebooting the iPhone. Must be a software glitch because I didn't have this issue with other iOS versions.

My iphone 5 sounds are low etc... lock sounds, tones?
