iPad 3 and iOS 6 - Home button not working

Latest. I am now using the IPAD 3 with IOS6 in an area where I have NO WIFI connection and the home button is working fine with no problems. I have WI FI only IPAD3. I wonder if SIRI with its connection to the home button + need for WIFI connection is somehow hanging up the physical home button.

Anyone else see the same?

I tried turning wireless off and still not working here.

I've turned Siri off, and so far my Home button is no longer intermittent.

Now I have Siri ON and the WIFI enabled and the home button is working fine. Not sure any of these correlate to the malfunction but I feel confident that it is connected to the IOS 6 upgrade some way.

For now I am keeping the virtual home button enabled as this saved me a few times already.

I have been having this exact issue for a few weeks now.

I did what BIgNige suggested and my Home button began responding normally right away.

Same issue here. This update is more and more of an upset everyday.

Also turning Siri off seems to fix the issue.

It does it does! Siri kills the home button... Bye bye Siri! Nice try.... Since siri is gone already one evening and morning without errors!

No luck for me. Wifi on or off, and no Siri to toggle on iPad2.

My iPad 3 was fine for about a week after the update. When the home button first started to play up, I found this thread and reset the settings as someone suggested. The home button was working again for a couple of days until yesterday, now, no matter what I do, the button doesn't work. I'm positive it's the upgrade, it seems far too much of a coincidence that so many people are having this problem after iOS 6.

Thanks BigNige, I hadn't heard that recalibration trick before, it seems to have worked. Hopefully it will be a bit more permanent this time than the reset.

The calibration trick did not solve the problem for me.

I tried the 'less impact' reset function Reset Home Screen Layout from the general settings which can be used to restore disappeared icons.

Go to Settings / General / Reset on your iDevice and tap

"Reset Home Screen Layout".

After this the home button functions again. Worked for me for an iPad2 on iOS 6

I followed the second solution (where you hold the home button and rotate to portrait mode) and my iPad 3 home button is back in action.

Fixed for me on iPad3 by disabling SIRI....thanks for tip...
