iPad 3 and iOS 6 - Home button not working

I'm having the intermittently unresponsive home button problem. Ipad2 - was fine before upgrade.

Yes,my home button not working tu..bad bad bad..i try to reboot,noting work..

I had this problem for ages, then I tried recall rating the home button and it worked perfectly - here is the guide I used:

After one week no problem usage today problem was come back. Update ios to 601 to dont fix it

Weird after posting on the first tread on this topic my problem was gone... Miraculously it has returned... Though I'm not at all using the home button anymore... I keep away from it in the near future until apple has a fix.

Many more people I talk to with iPads have the exact same issue, it comes and goes...

Ps to go home I use the swipe gesture now: put all 5 fingers on your screen in an app and move them together like pinching something. Tada back at the home screen... After doing this for the last week, since the problem returned with the hard button I'm used to do it this way...

Same problem on iPad 2!

6 month old iPad on IOS6.0.1 for a few weeks operating fine then tonight the home button starts not responding. Sometimes it does if I press it harder. He recal worked for a few seconds only. A reset did nothing. Seriously tempted to take it back to Apple store and ask for fix/replacement. Has anyone else done the same?

Mine was intermittent also but on my third gen ipad. I tried a DNU restore and it worked fine for about 2 days if that. I finally broke down and sent it to apple. They are replacing it so now I'm just waiting to receive the replacement. Mine was perfect aside from the home button so I hope the replacement is also.

I ordered a new iPad 3 weeks ago. It had this problem, it was returned as defective hardware. The replacement came today, it has the EXACT SAME PROBLEM. It shipped with iOS6.0, upgraded to 6.0.1 and the problem got worse.

They are sending me a box so I can have a 3rd iPad sent to me, which I believe will have the same problem because it feels like this is software, not hardware.

This is the most frustrating experience I've ever had with a technology vendor. I am just expecting to have the same problem with the 3rd iPad already.

EDIT: The home button calibration above worked! FOR ABOUT 2 MINUTES! I'm having the same trouble again.

I wonder if this might be an app issue because some android phones are having a similar issue and they think it might be because of a bad app. Just something to consider...

I would love for this to be an app issue, but this occurs on 2 different iPads fresh out of the box, with no configuration other than one IMAP email account setup. I then reset to factory (wiping the email), and have the same trouble.
