iPad 3 and iOS 6 - Home button not working

Since updating to iOS 6, the iPad 3's home button has been acting quite flaky. It often stops responding all together, forcing me to use gestures to quit apps or to access the multitasking panel. I've tried rebooting the device and re-calibrating the home button but the improvements are short-lived.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Thanks,

Kenroy

Try taking your iPad to a Apple Store. Apple customer service can help but if you are still having the problem and if it couldn't be fixed. I can recommend you to use AssistiveTouch.It can work as a home button if your problem couldn't be fixed.

Settings > General > Accessibility > AssistiveTouch

Hope your button get fixed soon,

I have tried with iOS6 on the first device and iOS6 and 6.0.1 on the second device. I live over an hour away from an Apple store so I will not be going there and even if AssistiveTouch works I don't like the idea of having to do this with a brand new device. If you purchase something new, and that item has a single button (disregarding the power button), that button should work. If there is a forum that is 7 pages long of people with the same problem, you should acknowledge there may be something wrong.

I think since you live an hour away from An Apple store that using Apple Express Lane would be your best bet. You can start the process here. You'll need your serial number but that's easy to get. They will troubleshoot your iPad with you over the phone. They will also make the tech's at Apple aware of your issue, if they already aren't aware of it. It's really a great service. I actually prefer it to going to one of their stores 😁

Thanks for the Express Lane suggestion, however their only troubleshooting for issues with "buttons" is to send the device in. Every day I search iPad home button not working or iPad 4 home button not working, there are more and more people with the same problem. Because it is so inconsistent it seems like software, but at this point I'm curious as to how many iPads I can send back with the same problem.

I've been exeperiecing the same issue with my iPhone 4 since the ios6 update. I was hopping that with the 6.0.1 it was getting to be corrected, but not!

I've re-calibrateed, rebooted, reseted but none of those options got my Home Button funcion working as before.

The issue with the Wi-fi connections also remains.

At this point I was willing to go back to Android.

Enjoy viruses and malware on Android? I'll enjoy buttons that actually work and I won't miss Mac fanboys who don't know what they're talking about.

I guss the FBI must be a "fanboy" then 😉

Like I said, enjoy your malware;
