Text from unknown with 10S 6

I just (48hrs) updated my iphone 4 to IOS 6 and since then receive text messages from "unknown" with no content just a "blank bubble" can be seen. When I try to add this to my contact list the phone number is listed as unknown. When I try to respond with a call a number appears 865 66:6 . This in itself is not an issue the fact that the message keeps coming every two hours or so with the ringing and vibrating alert is becoming annoying. Is this a bug...! or a virus...!? Any help in elliminating this issue will be most appreciated. Deleting the message is possible but they keep coming in anyway.

In my attempt to rid myself of this I have gone to SETTINGS and "do not disturb is off". SETTINGS/Message has been taken out of "in notification center".

SETTINGS/IMessage is off SMS/MMS is off... And of course I turned off the vibrate on ring and silent mode. I have switched off and back on, and done a reset, with power and home button. Still the message keeps coming.

Just to add I have a contract with SFR and my phone is non jailbroken.

Is anyone familiar with this issue? Any and all help much appreciated

Thanks everyone.

Same here. I recieved an imessage from unknown with bubble in it. but no txt in the bubble. Replied with a ? and vze comes back and says its a landline 202-8566656. Googling it it says, howard univ hospital medical director which obviously couldnt have sent the message, looks like the software it just appends the local area code to this 8656656. Any idea what this is and why? Come on Apple, gotta do better than this - SJ's rolling in his grave.

i have been getting these since around march/february time - i can't quite remember as i deleted the first three. my earliest recorded is at the beginning of march. i assumed it would stop but i have kept getting them and it is now may. i tried to text the number but i just got the 'message failed' icon. i never get alerts from them, i just go into my messages and they are there. in total i have recieved about ten, all of which are blank bubbles. finally i resorted to ringing the number, i also got the 865 66;6 number

i'm actually getting really creeped out so if someone knows what it is/how to stop it that would be great haha, thanks 🙂

I'm having the same problem...exactly the same. It's been going on for about a week now and is super annoying so I did some research online and I was told to look on my ATT bill to find the number. When I look on my bill the texts doesn't show! Like I never recieved them! I'm going to call ATT and Apple tomorrow and find out what's going on. If I find out anything I will reply again to this post. This is super creepy and I want it to stop!!!

I think that this behavior is caused by a failed iMessage Activation. Since i got my 4S Replaced yesterday, i keep receiving those Messages via SMS. Maybe its an Apple Server trying to confirm my telephone number. The Support Guy said its probably an issue caused by my Provider, but since i live in Austria and have the same problem as you guys using ATT, i dont believe him.

So, is iMessage up and working?
Settings > Messages > iMessage ON? (or waiting for activation)

Just got a message from Unkown that says "message not found." I turned off my iMessages and turned it back on. After it activated, I noticed that it had selected my email as the primary send/receive address and my phone number was both unselected and not selectable. I send a message anyway but iMessages told me that it was unable to send the message because the receiver was unavailable at the time. Weird. So I turned iMessages off and on again, but this time it selected my phone number as the primary address. I went to send a message and it worked. Haven't had a problem with iMessages since.

Essentially, I think the way to fix this is to turn iMessages off and on then test with sending a message until it starts working properly. Hope this helps.
