Iphone 5 signal loss

Anyone else having a problem where when you lose signal for a lengthy period time such as on the train the phone doesnt find signal again when you are clearly in a area that would have signal. Only way around this for it to stop saying "No service" is to reboot the phone.

It reboots and has signal again

Anyone else getting this problem?

Just to be clear, this fixes the problem with iphone 5 not reconnecting to 3G network when lost signal?

(that is the iOS 6.1 that is coming).

I've had my iphone 5 for two weeks now. Initially I had used a Finnish carrier Elisa. with 6.0.1. Then updated to 6.0.2. No problems experienced. Two days ago I changed to another carrier called Saunalahti, which actually uses the same network as Elisa. Started experiencing this "No Service" problem after visiting a garage where there is no signal for 10-20min period of time. Basically iphone just didn't connect to the network before using the Airplane off/on switch. I hope to see a fix to this ASAP. Basically this is an everyday problem for me.

It makes me sad to see this kind of really basic problems with Apple products. Apple, fix this soon!

I live in Scotland and as you can imagine every nework has a patchy service so travelling to & from work requires me to go through patches of no signal areas. Ive had the iphone 5 since day 1 and am now on ios 6.0.2 & have always had this problem which is annoying as I waited patiently for the 5 with my old 3GS & never bothered with the iphone 4. Never had this issue with the 3GS, so now every day like previous postings have said I too look like a phone geek with OCD frequently checking my phone for signal & rebooting every time I arrive at work & everytime I get home again! PLEASE PLEASE Apple fix this asap!

2 months into a T Mobile UK contract. T Mobile merged with Orange recently, which is now known as the EE network.

Before signing up to the network I checked the coverage in my area which was described as "Excellent". In reality I get anything from No Service to 4 bars signal. Coverage is definitely not "Excellent". My network also always changes between "EE" and "T Mobile Orange" and doesn't always automatically select the one with th best signal. Their whole network merger is a shambles.

The issue with having to flick "Airplane Mode" to re-search for a network seems to have been fixed for me after 6.0.2. At the Apple Store they told me they were aware of this issue and were working to fix it.

First I went to the EE Store who said I should go to Apple, who then said I should get a new SIM from EE. This made no difference, so EE told me to back to Apple to replace the handset. 48 hours with the new handset and now no difference, it's clearly a network provider issue, what are my options now?

I to am 3 months into my new contract having switched over from Vodafone to EE. All I seem to have encountered is nothing but problems with my iphone5 from constant lack of signal to 'No Signal' in an area with 'Very Good Coverage' according to the EE Website! Spoken to Orange Helpers on Twitter and also via my home telephone as I didn't trust the handset to complete a call, and according to them (looking at their own website no doubt) my area has 'Very good coverage!' My house is situated approximately 5 miles from my office which has a good reception but as soon as I reach the house the signal is non existent ! (I live in a well populated area, so no reason for lack of signal) So 3 months in still no explanation from EE as to why I get no signal?

Is it actually a fault with my iphone5? I seem to be going in that direction, after all the wifi problem still does not seem to be resolved with the 6.0.2 update. With my old iphone4 handset on Vodafone I never experienced any network coverage problems or poor wifi reception!! Very disappointed with the whole attitude of turn Off-On LTE/ Airplane/ Handset, this is a high end mobile smart phone why should we have to settle for these stupid temporary fixes!!! Don't know what to do now as tied into a 2 year contract of what seems to be disappointment!

Hi- I was a part of this discussion a couple months back- had the dreaded NO SERVICE issue when out of reception which was never able to lock back on to signal in normal coverage areas, battery drain etc... Have left EE in the UK now as under the "Sale of goods AND SERVICES Act" if the network provider is unable to fulfil their contractual obligations- ie- a handset which finds and retains signal- you are legally entitled to terminate that contract- irrespective of cooling off periods etc etc.. After 15 years with Orange/EE and having tried 4 iphone 5's, 2 SIM's and every single reset- I am now problem free with Vodafone. Maybe it's an upgrade problem, maybe software? It's not carrier related as it affects too many I believe. Nothing fixed this for me in the end but leaving one provider and joining another. Surely it's a software issue to have affected so many providers here in the UK, Europe and across the pond? Apple don't care- the problem is too marginal for them- don't wait for a fix- cancel your contracts and find new providers- maybe then they might have to support their customer base. Good luck all. Jo

Glad to hear this, gives me hope that I can be successful. I've had 1 new SIM card and 1 replacement phone so far. How did you go about cancelling? Was it a simple email or did you have to put up a bit of a fight?

I used to be on 3 and for all the criticism they get, I never had any problems, always great reception especially in my home, and have only heard good things about Vodafone's signal so would be looking to go to either of them.

Hi im_antony,

It came down to a nuts and bolts situation- I wasn't prepared to pay for a monthly contract which couldn't guarantee service- whether it was signal or software. It wasn't my concern was my argument and since handset after handset failed, they were left with the conclusion that until apple admit a serious fault- and fix it- I was within my rights to terminate as they could not provide me with a working phone. It took several calls and e mails but one man at EE took it all very seriously and sorted out my termination- I'd be happy to forward his email details if you're interested? So far on Vodafone very impressed- barely lost signal in the last 6 weeks- always recovered it. Less 3G than before but really not bothered by that as I've wifi where I use the net. Let me know if you'd like any more info:) Jo
