Iphone 5 signal loss

Anyone else having a problem where when you lose signal for a lengthy period time such as on the train the phone doesnt find signal again when you are clearly in a area that would have signal. Only way around this for it to stop saying "No service" is to reboot the phone.

It reboots and has signal again

Anyone else getting this problem?

iPhone 5, iOS 6

Well, if "poor signal" was the issue and the model was iPhone 4, then this information might have been valuable. Though this thread is regarding iPhone 5, and loss of signal, or rather failure to regain signal.

Besides, we have several people stating that changing the SIM (since i do not think they replaced the chip, then they would probably have given you a new unit instead) does not solve the issue.

Hi,

I am from Czech Republic(central Europe) and I have the same problem. My IP5 looses signal and it shows no service about 20 times a day. Unfortunatelly it sometimes shows the full signal, but when I try to make a call, it cannot connect me to the person I am calling to. Then I turn off and on the phone and I receive smss that were sent to me a hour ago...

I am really annoyed...

Did anybody managed to fix it?

Spoke to EE customer services regarding the constant lack of signal. I was advised to try a using a PAYGO phone to check the signal strength against my iphone5 signal. Well, the £15 handset appeared to have a better signal than my iphone5? Called them back to confirm this and they are now dispatching a new sim to me, will this work? I don't think so, It's just a lazy option to blame anything but the iphone5. Not hearing many complaints about iphone4s having these issues!

As stated in previous posts the iphone5 is a phone, you know those things that make and receive calls first and foremost. Then you can start adding all the additional features! Starting to get annoyed now but must play the game and see it all through with EE (who supplied the kit) or until Apple as I believe its a firmware issue get their finger out and resolve this!

After all this thread alone has over 38642 views (at the time of writing this) and they don't think there is a problem?!!

I Have the same problem, went into a no signal zone, came out yet still no signal, this was around 4 hours ago now and I have tried everything to get it back again, rebooted phone, airplane mode on and off, reset network settings, removed sim, even tried another SIM card in the phone, nothing has helped. So I was wondering how long it will be until it comes back of its own accord, or if it even will?? Thanks

Hi, S-Robie again,I

I have a great news- I have this signalgate only when 3G is activated. So I turned off the 3G in the mobile network and the problem is solved, I am not loosing signal at any time. So you can try it too. And wait for iOS update where this problem will be fixed and 3G could be used again.

Let me know if this advice helped.

I get this issue on my iPhone 5 and it's definitely an issue as my wife never experiences the same signal loss post the initial loss and she has IPhone 4 same network as me. Very often when it goes out of signal it does not find it again and seems to simply give up on the 'No signal' status. What I find very strange is that a simple call to voice mail will retain settings and it willsuddenly find a signal again, as if it just falls asleep and you need to wake it up. That said, whilst there is a workaround it's ridiculous that a £500+ phone needs to be told to find a singla again once it loses it, it's a major issue that needs addressing and patching ASAP.

Sorry about the snark, Dilbert. Your response was much more reasonable than what I expected, so I apologize for getting frustrated.

That said, I restored the entire phone, updated to 6.0.2, restored the network settings multiple times, tried all of the settings tricks, and even though it works once in a while, it seems pretty sporadic and I can't count on it.

I guess I'll take it in for an Apple store tech to check it out. It is really agitating when I go to make a call and it will not work; I can't count on it for anything. I also realized that I have two-step authentiation set up for my work computer, so I can't get the token to enter my password when the phone isn't working.

What a pain.

By all accounts this is fixed in the last few 6.1.0 beta's

That's the reports comming in from people suffering this crap, who now run that beta.

Me? I've tried everything (a few times) short of swapping the phone. Witch I believe is a pointless thing

To do when it's a software fault.

I'm resetting the airplane toggle a few times a day like its the normal thing to do, and for the 1st time SEROUSLY looking at a few of these nice android handsets that's out, or comming out.

Apple, I'm gonna give you till this 6.1.0 it's out and then 1 week of use.

If this £@1t happens one more time in that week....

...it's game over.
