I agree, Arthur. I don't think people realize how incredibly frustrating it is when you need to use your phone for text, vm, or to place a call and you can't do anything with it. It basically becomes an iPod Touch until it begins to work again.
Plus, it's always a total pain when you finally do connect to a network after not knowing that you've been disconnected for a few hours and all of a sudden you get a flood of text messages/iMessages, emails, and voicemails that you missed during this time.
I am just glad that I don't use my iPhone for work. If I did, I would have to switch. I've been an fan and advocate for over ten years and this is my third iPhone (3G, 4, and 5). This is the first product I've ever been really disappointed in. I can't recommend the iPhone to anybody at this point because of this garbage.
I just hope there are no emergencies in the next few days until I can either get it replaced or iOS 6.1 is released. Not even 911 works when you have no signal.
