Iphone 5 signal loss

Anyone else having a problem where when you lose signal for a lengthy period time such as on the train the phone doesnt find signal again when you are clearly in a area that would have signal. Only way around this for it to stop saying "No service" is to reboot the phone.

It reboots and has signal again

Anyone else getting this problem?

Iphone 5 32 gb white

Restored from Iphone 4 backup

AT&T in Connecticut

Does not reset to 4G from No Service

Tried resetting Network Settings with no help. Last tried changing Privacy Settings/Location Services/System Services. Shut off everything except Compass, Setting Time Zone and Traffic. Will be back to work Friday and will find out then if it works.

At time of purchase I also bought Black 32Gb Iphone 5 for my son. He loses signal when he is in his college class but as soon as he goes outside it comes back. Also on AT&T in Connecticut. We both switched from Iphone 4 and he told me that he never lost a signal in class with the 4.

2 iPhone 5 32gb units (1 black and 1 white (direct from AT&T at launch))

Restored from iPhone 4 backup (iCloud)

Service provider AT&T

Location Michigan

Fault unable to locate 4G signal signal After the signal loss. Also rapidly cycles signal strength and sometimes cycles between EDGE and no data with wildly swining bars of signal even if I have moved to within yards of a 4G tower.

I have tried resetting all settings, erased the phone and restored again from iCloud, and nothing works. 2 phones with the same problem. AT&T points at Apple and Apple at AT&T.

IPHONE 5 32GB Black, UK Orange

I have finally had my Iphone 5 replaced by Apple, i had the dreded Signal loss and the reset network didn`t work, I took the original Iphone 5 to the Genius bar (having owned it for 5 days) where they looked at and said most calls i`d made on it had dropped out and it rattled ( i just thought it was part of the internal design)

The Genius engineer said it was most likely to be the aerial not attached properly inside, the new replacement phone is a Million times better in every way, No poor signal a fantastic battery life and NO rattle.

i restored it from my Itunes from my Iphone 4 with no issues "SUCCESS"

Update this morning.

I did my return journey last night when I got home I still had a signal.

Secondly, this morning for the first time upon arrival at work I had a signal!

I forgot to turn off the do not disturb this morning so that is a difference from yesterday, but I'm not including that in the factors as to why it may of worked.

I'll keep on eye on things but... maybe, just maybe the reset network settings has worked afterall. Why it didn't work the morning I after I did the reset I'm not sure, but may of done the job.

Just tried something new- seems to be working!!!!!!!!!!

Go to Settings> Privacy> Location Services> (scroll to bottom) System Services and disable all except Compass, Time Zone and Traffic. For the first time in nearly 3 weeks my iphone 5 is coming out of NO SERVICE and finding signal all by itself... just like in the olden days...

Can't promise this is a fix for all or explain the reasoning but fingers crossed 🙂

This solution seems to be working for me too - for now! Result 🙂

Ok, tried the network reset setting and the privacy setting as mentioned on here, i can report after the network setting i still have the same problem, to the point when i was playing solitare on my phone, it dropped out of signal and the game froze for a minute, not happy!

My phone still struggles to recover from a no signal, and freezes my phone and uses battery like theres no tomorrow (10% per hour).

I phoned apple they told me to reset my phone which ive done, they now suggest i contact orange as its a sim card issue. So i called orange and they have agreed to send a sim card FoC, see how that goes.

If that doesnt work its back to apple as the point of purchase (carphone warehouse) will only replace the handset if its under the cooling off period (which is in two days time), the sim card wont arrive for a few days!

Personally i dont think its the handset or the sim card but im not an engineer, software issue or 4g transition issue?

Just thought it keep you updated cheers Nathan

Hi,

sorry for my bad english,

I also have problems with iphone 5, at home we have iphone 4, iphone 4S and iPhone 5, well, the only one with signal problems is called "the best iPhone ever." I've already been to the Genius Bar and the very nice lady I replaced the unit. My happiness was short-lived because once restored from backup 4 are back in the world of "no service".

now i drive with 2 phone in the passengers seat to see de difference between iphone 4 and iphone 5.

iphone 5 without restore was ok.

I also change the nano sim as suggested by the Genius bar but did not bring anything better.

I tried to restore as new, to restore using DFU but continues to have a lower return when I took it to Genius bar.

I think the problem is due to the restore from backup.

I now have a new appointment with genius bar if you do not solve I will sell my new iphone.
