Iphone 5 sometimes touch screen unresponsive

Just got my Iphone5 last Friday and found it occasionally unresponsive, I cannot tap into any apps, and sometimes I cannot even swipe to unlock the phone.

But in other times it is fully functional, so guess it is software other than hardware issue. Already tried restore it once, the problem is still on and off.

Anyone having similar issue?

iPhone 5, iOS 6

i started facing this issue a week ago.

Reason: Specially after a solid fall to the floor, i noticed there are some DEAD PIXELs on the screen which later on proved to be particles that went inside because of the gap created between the screen glass (Probably due to too much falls).

Temporary Solution: I found locking the screen immediately and unlocking it works fine. You don't need a charging cable. just lock and unlock and it starts working.

Permanent solution: i am still looking for one. i haven't removed the screen plastic yet. will try that. if that didn't work, then i will have to open the phone for the 4th time and put some glue 🙂 . My iOS isn't the latest. i have to upgraded to 10.3. if that still didn't work then it means screen is damaged. replacing is the final solution.

Solution:

You have a thirp party produced charger. Dont use it. Use the apple's own that came with the phone or pad or whateveRiDevice. Works like a charm.

Just tested this with many china chargers, Belkin chargers, finnish made chargers and apple's own chargers. Screen freezes in every single one except the apple ones. 🙂

Edit: i mean the wall piece of the charger. Cables work fine. chinese or whatever....

Um, I would disagree with this.

I have no 3rd party charges, and this is happening with my 5.

In fact, I have mine plugged into the cable IT CAME WITH, to my iMac, and it is not responding to any touch at all.

This is starting to annoy me, I can't even shut off the dumb thing if it won't recognize swipes!

Found out how to hard boot it, but the problem persists. Guess it's time to go to the Genius Bar.

It only happened while it was unplugged (until today, when I hoped that plugging it in would fix it).

Prior to today, I'd only used the wall plug to charge it, except for the very first day I got it when I was activating it. Today and then were the only times I had it plugged into my Mac.

And it was plugged into my keyboard USB, not directly into the back. I have an older iMac (one or two generations from the current ones).

Oh wait, I take that back. I did charge it twice while I was at work on my ThinkPad laptop.. but i did the same with my 4S and there were never any problems with that one.

By the time I got to the Genius Bar, not even a wipe and restore from factory settings would resolve it, so I got a new one. They didn't seem to have any idea what may have caused it. But it was definitely pretty much a brick, albeit a brick that still powered on. And still got good LTE/4G signal.

Let's hope this one lasts longer.

Question for those who are having issues - what color and what GB size are yours?

Mine is white 64GB.

Just wondering if there is any relation to color/size (doubt it, but worth asking).

Hallelujah - not just me. I'm so fed up of stabbing at the screen like an imbecile. Happens regardless of the phone being plugged in or not. App Store is the worst - trying to install an app, takes God knows how many stabs of the 'Install' button. Just now, tried to return to a call from the home screen - and stabbed the green bar at the top numerous times. Finally got back to the call/phone screen just before I was about to hurl the stupid phone on the floor. So fed up. Mine is white 64gb.
