Apple TV stuck on What's New or Verification Required screen after v5.1 update

Same problem. It seems apple is ignoring this and not fixing! My apple tv also keeps freezing and rebooting so I'm stuck on that screen a few times a day. Is this Microsoft?

same story here. waited up to 5 minutes and this "whats new" front sceen disappeared. @Apple: you must fix that!

Having the same issue... Any suggestions other than waiting everytime I want to watch TV?

Same issue. Just did the update. Purchased a movie and then the ATV2 locked up. Had to unplug and when it rebooted was stuck on What's New page. Took about 5 min to go away.

And another "me too". The "Verification Required" message appears randomly since the last update. Rebooting the Apple TV does not help, and neither does entering the CCV security code on the credit card thru iTunes from the Mac or from the Settigns screen on the iPhone. The message reappears after a while (minutes or hours).

That thread is old and offers no solution. This problem started to occur again after the 5.1 update and should thus have a new thread to not confuse it with an older issue...

Thanks apple, i just failed to sell a home theather because of this issue, i couldnt show my clients the usefulness of apple tv. I did showed that smasungs smart tv works :/

Same here. No matter what I do the verification screen keeps popping up and preventing AirPlay from working. Pls pls pls post a fix in here!

Maybe we can help ourselves here. Are people with the physical, small silver, apple tv remote having this problem? I thought I was only having the problem because I was using iPad Remote app and I didn't have (I misplace it, I have teenage boys in my family room) the physical remote. This What's New has a big "Continue" button that everyone wants to hit and I assumed that if I had a physical remote I would be able to hit it. But the gentleman above who said he lost a sale because of this bug would presumably have a physical remote.

Same issue...unable to get past the "What's New" screen after the update. I have the physical remote but it will not let me execute the "Continue" button and if I try to do a reset using the Menu+Down arrow, the device will flash rapidly, but not restart. After about 10 min, the screen saver will come on, but I still am unable to use any keys on the remote. When I unplug the device, same thing happens. Any ideas?

Ok, so physical remotes have the same problem. That's incredible to me. That means that everyone with the newer ($100) apple tv who did the 5.1 update is having this problem I think. I think that's millions of people. Just some thoughts. The apple tv is a device with software on it, not a web page. So apple is going to have to do another update to the apple tv to fix this and we are going to have to install it.

I think that also means if Apple were smart they'd stop the 5.1 update and wait until they have a fix because the more people that do the upgrade, the more people will have this problem.

krush, You restored apple tv to version 5.0 or did something else? The micro USB thing is interesting. Before the Apple TV would show up in iTunes when both were up at the same time. Now I don't see the Apple TV in devices. I thought maybe you could do something from the Mac to fix this problem.
